A wins does more for whose legacy?

    Hopkins W over Calzaghe?

Hopkins is without a doubt a future HOFer. However he still has his critics due too his boring fights and big wins vs smaller men. However when you're the #1 Middleweight and a former welter weight, #1 P4P fighter moves up and is knocking men out in your division and challenges you, you don't turn that down. When you get a multi million dollar offer on the table vs the sport's golden child, you don't turn that down. He silenced some by moving up and challenging Tarver. But haters claim Tarver just isn't that great. He outboxed Winky in a close fight, but many claim Winky was just too small. So a win vs a smaller, yet great and dominant Calzaghe does what? Does it enhance his legacy in the eyes of haters? Or is it just another "big fight" trap that Hopkins can win, but lose to calls of Calzaghe being "smaller" even though Hopkins fought 98% of his career at middleweight.

    Calzaghe W over Hopkins?

Calzaghe last night proved that he is without a doubt a future HOFer and quite possibly (most likely) the greatest 168lber of all time. However he still has his critics due to fighting most of his career vs unknown guys and never leaving his country for fights. Though when you're selling out 30-50k tickets with a country on your side, and winning, how can any human turn their back on that? Would you? He had his coming out vs Eubanks, but many claimed Chris was out of his prime. After a slew of non nondescript wins, he spanked Jeff Lacy. Though many thought Joe was just protected and the powerful Lacy would eventually catch him, that talk changed once they realized how good Calzaghe really was. He was still denied his credit. A couple of more nondescript wins later, he faced the toughest challenge of his career in a mega fight. Well we thought it was the toughest. Vs Kessler, Calzaghe outboxed, outwitted and outsped the younger fighter in clear fashion. Would a win over Hopkins enhance the legacy of Calzaghe? Or is it just another trap for haters to say Joe just "outworked" the old man?

Hopkins could retire now and still get into the HOF. Actually Cal could do the same. I would say Cal because he has less big names on his resume.

Hopkins beating Calzaghe does more, because ppl will just say that Hopkins is shot if Calzaghe beats him.

That I think I agree on...back in Hopkins' prime...he did fight pretty actively and could bully guys...now he likes to counter and play defense...

if Calzaghe overwhelmed Hopkins, many may look at how X "used" to be and how X now is older, slower and waits on his opponents...

it does a lot for both legacies...but Calzaghe fights like a 20 year old man while Hopkins fights like a 42 year old man
