Hey boys:
Great night and you may have seen me and the wife; we were sitting right in front of choir that sang before the fight.
* Kery Davis said he'd love to have Kessler back regardless of the loss. Paraphrasing "How could this loss make anyone say 'Oh, now I don't want to see Kessler against a Pavlik or Taylor.' He felt both fighters were elevated.
* Obviously, Hopkins and Calzaghe is the 'fight'. Davis said he thinks Hopkins would want it but Calzaghe stated that he won't do it for '10 quid.' In other words, the pay will have to be even. Interesting exchange between Davis and Warren where Warren basically said "Don't let Hopkins back on your air without this fight."
* Povetkin-Chambers is a fight HBO would be interested in but there is a date conflict. HBO is very interested in Povetkin.
* Asked Calzaghe if, were he to get and defeat Hopkins, he and Kessler could rematch considering the strength of their first fight. Calzaghe said he's never been big on rematches and Kessler would only get better. He expects Kessler to rule the division and expects to vacate his belts at 168 because he doesn't want any more mandatories.
Personal thoughts...GREAT night, excellent fight, AWFUL undercard. I mean, like eight days of fights with nobody who could punch. Bleh. Crowd was wicked though. I had Joe Calzaghe as the greatest of the 23-year 168 run and he iced that last night.
