boxing is a lot like driving.

this is something i figured after i've payed attention to this sport and the trends. power and a granite chin gets talked about a lot in boxing as important qualities. samuel peter for instance is well known for having good power and a granite chin (although both of those qualities questionable, but anyway, lets pretend it's true) and a lot believe that is what got him to the top and that is all he needs to remain at the top. but i believe otherwise.

when you are driving, it is recommended to be as safe as possible on the road to make sure you do not have an accident. in boxing, the goal is to hit and not be hit, so i would call getting hit flush with a power punch an accident. now if you have good insurance (a good chin) then you should be alright. but even if you have bad insurance (some would say wlad klitschko), you can get by if you drive safely(good defense).

but even with good insurance, the more you have an accident, the more expensive your insurance gets (the harder it is to take those shots) and you always run the risk of having your car get ****ed up to the point it's not salvageable (getting knocked out) and you have to take your car to the junk yard and hope you can start all over (make a comeback).

so from this one could gather that it is always a good idea to drive safely (have a solid defense) even with good insurance, because insurance (chin) can only go so far.

the point is, even if you are blessed with power and a granite chin, that alone isn't enough to make it in boxing.

Rofl, what a crock of ****, but entertaining read nonetheless.

If you dig far enough, you can relate anything to eachother, with over-reached metaphors.
