Briggs vs. Lyakhovich, good decision to stop it?

There was only one second left, and there wasn't a chance that Briggs could do more damage, so... should the referee have stopped it?

Well Lyakhovich is an idiot for allowing himself to get caught with seconds left in the fight when he had a comfortable lead and would have still won even with the knockdown and a 10-8 round for Briggs. Pretty rough for the ref to stop it and take a champion's belt away with a few seconds left in the fight though. Champs just don't get the respect they used to, I guess because there is what 7 or 8 times as many these days.

Did you guys even see the fight? Lyakhovich was knocked out of the ring and could not get back in there. There was no stoppage by the ref.

Yes I saw the ****ing fight, why would I post about something that I haven't seen?

I wanted to make this thread to see how consistent the arguments were about "Chavez not being able to land another punch on Taylor, so it shouldn't have been stopped" in context of other fights.

I think the fight should have been stopped on the first KD. Sergei was very shaky when got up but the referee allowed him to fight nevertheless.

I thought Briggs could bring something back to the division but the guy chooses not to jab and just stand there like a mountain. Sucks, dude use to be good and had a lot of talent.

I can't stand Richard Steele but that was a good stoppage.

                  Have at it...

It is interesting to compare the vast differences of responses I get about this fight compared with Chavez-Taylor, even though the most frequently used justification for Chavez-Taylor not being stopped was that Chavez couldn't do any more damage.

I thought it was a good stoppage. Lyakhovich was not going to beat the count.
