They all feature a British winner except the Hatton/Mayweather fight. BTW, both Earl and Khan are British, aren't they?

You should have made the poll public, then we could see who, if any dumb ass votes for '0-4'.

A bit of a glib generalisation, given that Earl was seen on prime time in a thriller with Michael Katsidis. (In terms of a UK audience anyway, which is what you allude to).

You know what, C-Drone.. I like you. And I like this thread you posted. It was well thought-out, and considered. I do think there are some misrepresentations (like Thompson not even being in the top ten Cruisers right now... dude, there's a reason for that... he's RETIRED) and I do think there's a bit of Fat Yankery involved too. (A lot of Fat Yanks on here talk about Hatton as being the only one to care about... in addition to the guys you mentioned, don't forget there's Junior Witter as a legitimate champ, Clinton Woods a legit-ish beltholder in a weak division, and Enzo Mac as a legitimate contender with a belt) but generally, I enjoyed reading it.

C...good idea for a thread. In this regard, I think British boxing is as good as ever right now, even after Lennox' retirement. Good boxing anywhere is good for boxing. It's especially good if it's U.S. boxers that dominate because we'll get to see them more often. But, the best American boxing right now is in the lower weight divisions. The heavies are sucking hind tit right now.

Good topic, but Graham Earl is rather well liked thanks to his war with Katsidis.

When I talked about them and Earl, for example. I meant on a world level. I think British fans hope their main fighter succeed more than anyone else. And I think they hope that they do well on a WORLD level.

The misrepresentation of Campbell should have been stated better. I should have said, he's retired, and that a faded fighter (at the time, he was faded) was able to beat Haye. I knew he was retired and left that kind of open-ended.

As far as the Earl, in specific, he's not close to a world-wide name. The four fighters I mentioned were. I like Witter and Clinton Woods isn't bad, but once again.. on a world level...... Witter is starting to make a name though. If Hatton lost, he'd be a good fight for Hatton, to gain back some fans he MAY lose, and get back into the scheme of things. I picked 2-2.. Calzaghe, ALMOST sure, and either Haye or Khan being the other fighter. To me, anyone who picked 4-0 OR 0-4.. is a very bold poster.

Regardless, thanks for the criticism (though I NEVER said Hatton was the only one to care about.. I actually care more about Calzaghe) and thanks for the feedback.

I think British Boxing is in good shape regardless of the outcome of these fights. There is a lot of good boxers over there.
