After the ten-week postponement, the contract weight for the Fernando Vargas-Ricardo Mayorga grudge match was changed from 162lbs to 166lbs. Although the increase is expected to benefit Vargas more than Mayorga, Mayorga says the extra weight doesn't bother him. "At any weight I'm stronger than him," said Mayorga today. "It [depends] on the hormones you have in your body and I have too many male hormones in my body and he has more girl hormones in his body. So, I'm stronger than him, no matter what.....I don't think the fight will go more than three rounds and no matter if he comes running, I know after he feels my pressure he's gonna get knocked out." Mayorga also questioned Vargas' claim that this is his last fight. "[Vargas] is doing this because he wants the money. He's not doing this for pride or anything, he's doing this because he needs the money and Vargas knows that he's broke....he's not going to retire, he's going to keep fighting to get more money." Finally Mayorga said this fight is personal. "I really don't like the guy and I'm gonna knock him out and his wife is gonna come up to the ring and have pictures with the real champion and that's gonna be me!"
This after Vargas recently promised to 'not run' and to KO Mayorga.
