Paulie Malignaggi vs Floyd Mayweather at 140

I say Floyd Mayweather close SD.

I see many posters here claiming floyd would KO/TKO paulie malignaggi and i can say honestly i dont see it like that.

Paulie vs. floyd is a great match up for both fighters...

floyd is going to be noticably quicker than paulie malignaggi.

in fact i say they are pretty similar in speed/quickness (yes even hand speed).

i dont believe floyd can knock paulie out if cotto couldnt knock him out and cotto gave paulie one hell of a beating and he never quit.

paulie obviously has very VERY very little KO power but his chin is pretty damn good if you ask me.

it would be a decision (my call is a SD) for floyd.

either way i think it would be an exciting fight...more exciting than the hatton fight

I'm glad someone else realizes that Paulie is a real talent. In my opinion, the only guy at 140 that can beat Paulie is Hatton. Paulie will easily UD everyone else at Jr. Welterweight. He has also won 22 rounds in a row.

I think it would be exciting considering Pauli is skilled and can take punishment. But, I don't see it as exciting as the Hatton fight because for one, Hatton has the power. Second, Hatton IMO has the skills to get inside and force the action on Floyd. In Pauli's case, if Floyd gets on his bike to win a decision, then Pauli would be hard pressed to do anything about it. Thus, another typically boring Floyd fight is in the cards. Pauli's best chances would come if Floyd decided to impress the crowd and went for a knockout...which is not totally unlikely considering Pauli's lack of punching power. However, I have to go on past performances. So, I'm leaning on Floyd doing what he does best...avoid punishment and outpointing for the decision. That spells an unexciting fight, IMO.

Absolutely. Paulie is a real talent in this sport. he hung 12 rounds with cotto and cotto is in the top 3 currently of the 147 division and if he can beat mosley then in my opinion it makes him quite possibly the number 1 contender for floyd mayweather jr.

There's no shame in losing to a really good fighter.

hatton does have that power. so in reality no matter if floyd has shut out hatton going into the 12th round its not really over because hatton has than equalizer...the knockout punch which paulie wouldnt have...so its never over really...and hatton does have one heck of a body punch.

however i dont believe floyd could run from paulie due to the fact i think paulie is just about as quick as mayweather...

and even though he doesnt have ko power paulie sure isnt afraid to trade (we've seen that in the past...especially the cotto fight...not the whole fight but a lot of the time he'd get right in there and slug with him...thats heart).

paulie has pretty decent defense...he's slick, quick, and has great handspeed.

i think its more of a challenge for mayweather rather than a hard hitting fighter who isnt as fast as him (dont get me wrong hatton is much faster at this point than a current version of the post prime oscar de la hoya) but i think someone who can keep up with floyd makes it harder for him.

floyd is just going to let hatton tire himself out (like his gameplan with oscar) and then go in for the win on the cards...

if hatton utilizes a similar gameplan to what oscar de la hoya used then he might just do enough to get the SD or make it a draw (a draw at the least)

oscar had a terrific gameplan for mayweather and had he not tired he would have easily beat him...

it worked...

hatton is going to have to punch, punch, punch...outwork mayweather basically...paulie has the handspeed to match mayweather (if not outwork him)...

either fight would be good its just my opinion a malignaggi/mayweather fight would be the better fight...

Honestly it comes down to this: Both guys are equally fast and slick. Mayweather has a better reach and more power. Mayweather wins.

this fight will boil down to who has MORE skills and if you don't know already that would be Floyd, IMO no one out there including Shane can beat Floyd accept Miguel Cotto.. not even Williams IMO because not only is Floyd so small he can make himself hard to hit his arms are unusually long so he could still keep his gloves in The Punisher face all night long.. Floyd beats Paulie in a VERY technically sound 12 round UD in a fight where both can walk away proudly.. 100

this fight would top the "worst match ups" thread, what a stinker of a fight it would be between malignaggi and mayweather. they would have to match up corpses on the under card to try and make it exciting..........

i really think paulie can outbox floyd and win a ud/sd at 140. Paulie may lack power, but he has an amazing jab,great footwork and his handspeed is just as good as floyd's. There is no way floyd could hurt paulie, paulie has a great chin and a lot of heart. Call me crazy, but i think paulie could outwork floyd for a ud/sd.
