What role does Leanord Ellerbe play in the Floyd camp?

I know he's suppose to be Floyd's advisor, but all i've ever seen him do is talk **** while praising Floyd, rub Floyd in between rounds during his fights, and undress Floyd during his doctor visit in the 24/7 special. Does he actually do any advising???
