    Pavlik Vs Calzaghe

[B] If Calzaghe beats Kessler do you think Pavlik will be hes next fight? And how do you think Calzaghe will fare? To be honest I think that Calzaghe should retire rather than take this fight, IMO Pavlik is a freak of nature he has the long arms like Hearns, If he manages to improve his hand speed I cant see many people beating him..I think one of the best way to stop Pavlik is to go to the body .

pavlik has a punchers chance and will bring the heat. but i think that Calzaghe's speed and boxing skill would just be too much for Kelly.

I agree, unless Joe's body breaks down in a flash of light, he has the style and skills to handle Pavlik. I would root for Kells Bells to squash his face in, though.

The funny thing is that if Taylor won the fight, people would've had a hard time predicting who'd win between Taylor and Calzaghe. I don't think Pavlik is tailor made for Calzaghe, imo it's the other way around. I think Pavlik will still be one of the biggest punchers in the SMW division, he won't be a Lacey-ish puncher though, Pavlik is faster and smarter. Calzaghe tries to pressure his oppenents by randomly connecting and systematically finishing the job (if he's able to). Funny thing is, Pavlik pressures his oppenents but doesn't randomly connect, when he hits, he hurts, he doesn't try to slap you. Both their styles would likely lead to a toe to toe battle early on, if not Pavlik will lure him into one, and imo Joe simply can't win going toe to toe.

Pavlik did well against big middleweights that he was still bigger than. How would he fare against a big super middleweight who is faster and considerably more skilled?

I hear what your all saying! Some fare posts..But I have been watching a few of the Pavlik fights, And he can take a punch hands down, So can Joe but IMO Joe will beat Taylor because of his style but Pavlik has some freaky power in his punches, I see kessler losing to Pavlik and to be honest cant see a clear winner in a fight between Pavlik and Calzaghe! I guess we will see how Joe is on Saturday night, I will be ringside to see the action cant wait, Section C2

I think this would be an interesting match-up. I'd have to give the edge to Calzaghe based his known acomplishments. What makes this fight interesting is we just don't yet know how good or bad Pavlik is. However you scored the Taylor fight the fact is he starched him and while I've never been a Taylor fan I always thought he was a tough guy. Pavlik hit him once and took the life out of him, I found it humerous that folks were even concidering the stoppaga as premature when taylor was slumped in the corner with his head down. He was out!! Be interesting to see what happens to Calzaghe if Pavlik lays a few of those punches on him.
