Mosley: "Mayweather Next or Retirement"

If he can't secure a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2008, former three-division champion Shane Mosley says that his Nov. 10 bout against WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is possibly the final fight of his career. [details]
Shane's mindset is now QUESTIONABLE as far as I'm concerned.
Good news for Cotto. We don't need guys winning these fights who are already talking about walking away. That's no good.Comment

Get your facts straight, he didn't say he wouldn't fight him. He said that he wanted to take get readjusted to the welterweight weight after fighting at 154 for the past few years by taking a fight first and getting used to the weight. Thats smart, why would he drop that much weight and fight Maywaether right away putting himself at a disadvantage. He wanted to be at his best, that's smart. He didn't say he didn't want to fight him. Mayweather has been coming up with bull**** excuses for years like money, handpicking opponents at oppurtune times and saying thi person and that person didn't deserve to fight him. Fighting older past there prime fighters, yet his fans justify all his excuses. If this was Floyd you'll would be saying, it was agood business decision. Mosley was being smart about it. I'm sure Mayweather would have loved to fight him right away taking advantage of the fact that it would have been Mosleys first fight at 147, since the first DLH fight. Like i said, Maywaether has made a career at fighting opponents at oppurtune times. I want to see him fight all these young guys in the prime of there careers like the Cotto's,Williams's, Cintron's,etc.etc. Even fighting Mosley now, he isn't nearly the fighter he once was.Comment

People on this board are smoking so much if they think Floyd wouldnt fight Shane. 1st off he has already challanged him, 2ndly the fight would be huge if Shane beats Cotto, and 3rd Floyd knows it would seal his legacy since the fans seem to think that he is scared of him.
I think you guys really underestimate Floyd's mindset towards Shane. I dont think Floyd has any kind of worry of Shane. I bet anything that I have that he looks as Mosley as a guy who has already lost to 2 different guys, some say 3 guys if you count the 2nd Oscar fight, and he is all Offense. He is one demensional and never ever makes an adjustment during a fight. In all his tough fights he fought the same way from rounds 1-12. He never has another game plan if something isnt working. I think people are 100% wrong if they think that Floyd is scared or worried about a Mosley fight. If 2 guys are close to the same skill level then a complete fighter will always beat a one demensional guy. Always.
Also, dont forget the size issue. I always talk about this. Shane is bigger & stronger then Floyd but he's also much smaller then alot of the other big WW's and is closer to Floyd's sizeLast edited by DLT; 10-30-2007, 03:34 AM.Comment
