I think it's more Tszyu's way of not really wanting to believe he's actually retired. He could of had a tune up in Sydney, made some cash, said good bye that way.

I think he could of had a fight a couple of months after the Miguel Gonzalez fight, because at that time Tsyzu was the talk of boxing and everyone wanted a piece of him. There was talk of a "Quick" Gatti fight at the end of 99, but as we all know it never materialized.
not in 99 because Gatti had just lost 3 straight and only fought once against Munoz. The fight came its closest after Tszyu beat Leija, so his mandatory was Branco he didnt see a point in fighting branco so gatti and branco squared off for the WBC fight then since Gatti won he was sappost to fight Tsyzu but he ended up getting sidelined cause of injuries for over a year

Tszyu is my favorite fighter ever, but he would get slaughtered if he fought Floyd now. Back in his prime, who knows?

Thanks for telling me It wasn't back in 99. But I'm sorry It was. I was speaking to a member of Kostya's camp and they said they were looking for a QUICK fight that's why they were looking at Gatti because he wasn't in the best of shape.
Look the fight didn't come that close to happening but that's what Peter Mitrevski told me back in 1999.
