Right but you should only administed a standing 8 count when a fighter would have fallen down but was held up by the ropes.

Actually, anytime a fighter is on the ropes completely or saved by them it is supposed to be deemed a knockdown. That's not really a standing 8 count. Usually when a fighter is heavily leaning on the ropes is when a lot of standing 8 counts would occur as well, if they're available.

Yeah, well they need to employ the standing 8 count much more than they do these days. I'm so sick of the shoeshine stoppages on the ropes. A guy gets stunned and then a flurry of punches and it's over. It's b.s. IT's like the refs these days are just looking for the first excuse to stop a fight.
