Showtime’s countdown show for former two division champion Ricardo Mayorga and former Jr. Middleweight Fernando Vargas premieres tonight at 9pm. Although both fighters are coming off of losses, Mayorga and Vargas are pros at hyping a major event. The crowd is expected to be a sell out at the Staples Center in Las Angeles and the PPV numbers should generate a significant amount of revenue. At one of the first press conferences, an all out brawl ignited because Mayorga took a swing at Vargas. Fernando returned the favor landing two big shots. Footage of the press conference even made it onto CNN. The fight is scheduled for Friday, November 23rd with Kermit Cintron vs. Jesse Feliciano and Roman Karmazin vs. Alejandro Garcia on the undercard. Mayorga and Vargas both must weigh in at a catch weight of 162lbs.
