Maxboxing posed this question, and thought I'd bring it up here because it sounded like a good topic to debate:

Out of the heavyweights fighting on the 11/13 DKP PPV, who do you think will or could make a statment, or name for themselves?

Byrd, Golota, Ruiz, McCline, Holyfield, Rahman, Donald, Meheen?

My two cents: If Golota comes in with his head on straight and doesn't resort to dirty crap fighting Ruiz (the octopus), then he could knock this fool out and finally bring a demise to Ruiz and gain a belt. Big STEP in the heavyweights if Golota pulls this off.

Second, if McCline comes in "hungry" and "aggressive" and 'in shape', (not like the wuss move vs. Klitschko), he could knock Byrd out (perhaps?). Byrd is slick, but lately he's been willing to trade adn not move as much (Oquendo, Golota). McCline doesn't have tremendous power, but the guy is HUGE.

i really dont think any of these guys can make any big enough statement against the guys they are fightin to become true threats in the division
at the moment they are htreats becuz of their names
i just hope one of them is willing to fight Vit

Golota is the ONLY one who would generate real interest if he wins fairly impressively.
There's still a belief that he may have some untapped potential left in him.

The others are either shot, deadly dull, or just very limited.

I agree. Golota has the most to gain from this, cause if he gets rid of Ruiz even the most cynical fan has to crack a smile

golota has the best chance to gain something, plus he's already a known commodity... here's how i look at it

rahman/meehan - rahman is a has been and meehan is a never was... rahman won the title and hasn't had a meaningful win since and that was like 4 years ago.... rahman by dec or ko

holy/donald - holy is waaaay past shot, only winning 2 in his last 8 fights... donald has never beaten a good opponent.... who wins?? who cares?? donald by dec

byrd/mccline - the most predictable fight on the card.... it'll be a blue print of just about every byrd fight... mccline will be agreessive, maybe win a few early rounds, miss alot and then tire... byrd will slip, slide and peck his way to a win.... possible fatigue stoppage by byrd... mccline has almost no chance to KO byrd....

ruiz/golota - nobody likes ruiz and rightfully so, but he's beaten rahman, fres and an ancient holy... meanwhile AG has never won a big fight, he's looked good in losing, but never won the big one... ruiz by dec in a dreadful fight

I have to agree about Golota (and I'm from Chi-Town, if that matters :lol: ). And maybe him fighting the most hated guy in the heavyweight may have something to do with it. Though I'm mostly looking forward to the Rahman-Meehan bout for some twisted reason. ???
