It helped but it wasn't the end of them. Also what helped and made people think differently was everybody's favorite in boxing Sugar Ray Leonard begging and pleading for a 12 round fight when he was negoitiating for his fight with Marvelous Marvin Hagler. The fight would have never happened if Hagler didn't agree to the fight being 12 rounds. Health was the main reason Leonard wanted 12 rounds.

It was the main reason cited, Kims death.
SRL had nothing to do wth the distance being changed. He begged for
a 12 rounder with Hagler because he knew Hagler would catch him within 15.

no mre like he was fighting a stone out of his natural weight its commonsense his Stamina is'nt gonna be as good as Hagler's who was a natural middleweight Leonard was lumping an extra stone about and it was'nt his natural weight

if Leonard had been at welterweight he could have boxed for 15 rounds easily

15 rounds were when the best of the best performed, to go into a 15 round fight knowing that there is 3 extra rounds, 12 minutes including the 1 minute breaks and this is on top of 12, only the best of this era would be able to survive that Floyd being number 1 and fighters like Cotto and Forrest who tend to punch conservatively, when they can land they will throw, good offense game but for the most part they don't throw too much at you to a point where they are tired even in the 12th, Cotto just seems to get stronger as the fight goes on and Forrest just never seems tired, I be seeing him and he be looking fresh after the fight.. only guys like these cats could just up it to 50 but I personally feel it should never have changed, fighters would train twice as hard and it would make for those classic old school fights again, the fighters would train ULTRA hard just to make it to 15.. 100

True, but he had been idle/retired for almost 2 years or so. Ray trained for 1 full year for that fight. He was scared of losing, thats why he waited so long to call on him.
