Froch: "I Won't Underestimate Robin Reid"

Reid is one of the most underrated fighters from this country IMO. As Mickey said he was nowhere near his prime when he fought Lacy. In his prime he would have beaten Lacy. Eventhough he is past it now I still think he may spring a shock against Froch, we'll see.

Against Lacy Reid had a **** preperation, he also took a very blatant foul that resulted in the first knockdown of his career, he lasted 2 more rounds after the first knockdown and was pulled out by his corner between rounds, Lacy couldnt finnish him but Reid never recovered properly from the first knockdown.
When Robin fought Calzaghe he had been out for well over a year so took a few rounds to get going in that fight, if he was a bit sharper he may have got the decision.
Robin looked good in his last fight with Brinkley given his age and that his last fight was his worst and nearly 2 years previous, he was also coming on in that fight, he got 8 good rounds under his belt.
Robin is getting Froch at his most vunerable, Carl has been oout of the ring a month longer than Robin and has done less than 5 rounds in over a year so will not be sharp, he is also coming back from knee surgery so may not have been able to do the roadwork necassery.
Robin has the longer reach, and as long as hes getting good sparring and training well he has all the tools to beat Froch.
Carl hasnt fought any former title contenders let alone former title holders so we have no names to judge him from apart from magee who Reid beat while he was undefeated, Robin dropped him 4 times, Carl stopped him very late but after Robin had softened him up, he also couldnt drop him at will like Robin could.
Robin will be Carls first opponent who has been anywhere near a title fight, at 30 years old its a bit late to try testing yourself, especially after the long lay off and injury.
Robin along with Joe Calzaghe was a world champ at 24, Robin is class and fights anyone anywhere, Lacy in Florida, Ottke in Germany (I think Robin may have been the only man to floor Ottke), Magee in Belfast, Nardiello in Italy.
Carls time off and surgery, also his lack of experiance at an advanced age will hurt him here, he is slow on his feet, easily outjabbed and easily caught.
Robin has been chosen because he shouldnt win but when offered the fight earlier this year, robin turned it down becasue he wasnt sure what he would feel like boxing again, Brinkley has obviously made him realise that with a bit more training he can still do a job. Robin hasnt been chosen because he is a dangerous opponent to test Froch, Carls career is a joke and Robin will burst his bubble like he did to Magee when he was seen as a name opponent for a british contender.
Who has Carl faced to tell us he has a good chin ?
Who is the unbeaten prospect that Cral has fought to tell us about his heart ?
Who was the former title holder to tell us about his skills ?

Nah I aint Robin, I just know he has class, he wan a medal at the olympics and wasnt protected during his career.
I know he has the tools to beat Froch, Carl has done nothing that impresses me, he has beaten a few journeymen who were overwhelmed by his strength but none he has fought has done anything at world level for us to say, ok he does have something and hes getting on a bit and still not interested in the top names which leads me to believe both himself and his team arent that confident in him for a title push

i think Froch can be hurt his defence is a shambles if Reid can land with the big stuff hell take Froch out ,Reid has to stay busy though dont let Froch outwork him and give him time to pick his shots
i Predict Reids right hand will be what does the business if he is too win this fight ,hes gotta put some leather on Froch make him fight then well see if hes really up for a scrap we know Reid always comes to fight

Thats what id advise Rob to do, just make sure you are sharp in training with loads of sparring, get the jab pumping in Frochs face early and mix it between some rough stuff that Rob has got good at, just assert himself early and dont let Carl get settled. Push him back where he isnt used to fighting and let those overhand rights land over the low held guard, even if they dont land they look good for the judges.
The only punch that Carl has that would worry me is the right uppercut, everything else he throws is pretty much telegraphed

froch vs lacy
i think froch would knock out lacy after hes knocked out robin reid ofcourse.
carl is a real ****er and lets not forget robin caught jc with a peach in the dying moments of ther fight and i feel had that have been earlier in the round.....well who knows but, joe has been and is a real credit to british boxing.
never the less, should carl be made madatory challenger for joes new titles i think joe will relinquish to do two things, avoid carl froch and move up in weight.
something is telling me that joe would not be this confident against carl although he does have much more class i just think it would be something like the taylor pavlik clash. ????????
