    Pavlik/Taylor rematch question

Looking forward to this rematch as im sure others are just one question for anyone that might have an answer

From what ive read they are fighting at 166lbs in a non titile match, now when Taylor originally signed the contracts with the rematch clause, was it should he lose that he fights the guy that beat him(pavlik) or does he fight whoever holds the belts?

I know he's fighting pav again but wouldnt he want to get his belts back? hence the point of the rematch, and what would have happened if the originally planned Duddy fight happened and Duddy won?

    cheers

Taylor, because of the contract, had some 30 days to decide if he wanted the rematch, right away. So the Duddy fight couldn't happen unless Jermaine passed on the fight, or had run out of time without answering the question.

As far as the fight at 166, I don't THINK it's for the titles, though, who knows with the way the sanctioning bodies work these days.. However, he was plannig to move up to 168, so it's not that big of a deal, anyway. It would be the settle the score, and than be a step closer to 168 in the first place.

Well, it's good that he'd keep them, because the middleweight division is limited to 160. It was Taylors choice for the stipulation on top of all that. He wanted 166, so he should be prepared for the consequences. Plus, a rematch at this point is hardly going to happen because of the titles, to begin with. Both plan to move up, and Taylor just wants redemption, before he moves up. The titles wouldn't count for much, regardless, legacy-wise that is.

Technically the can't fight for the title at a catch weight. The winner will be seen as the people's middleweight champion

The contract says the fight is to be held at 166 but I don't think they HAVE to fight at that weight. Look at Mayorga/Vargas they change the weight ever other day.

they should fight at 160 or it just loses its point, to be the best middleweight of the world. i don´t care about belts, but this not being a middleweight fight then its just pointless, cos if taylor wins he can´t say he is the best middleweight cos he didn´t fought at that weight. if pavlik fought against another guy at 166 at a non title fight i think it would be ok, but not the rematch with taylor.

btw i still think pavlik wins xD, but the situation is not right.
