(NOTE: This is mainly to discuss something of interest, but it's also to help stop the flow of nothing but Hatton and Mayweather, threads. I hope you enjoy)
Manny Pacquiao has finally gotten rid of the Marco Antonio Barrera issue, to a degree, he now has a lot of options. He can stay at his weight, or he can move 5 pounds north and test his luck/skills there. Either way, here are some options, the pros and cons, and then my idea of the outcome. I hope you enjoy, once again.
Joel Casamayor: In order for this to happen, he needs to move up to 135, at lightweight. This could be a pretty decent fight, especially if Casamayor looks good on PPV when he's on the undercard of the Cotto/Mosley, and maybe another fight in the beginning of '08. That could set up a nice clash in mid-'08.
Who Wins & How: If I had to choose, I think it's a pick'em fight at this point. If it's the Casamayor that last fought Corrales, then he has a very good shot. However, if he's faded at all, he might have a tougher night. If I'm to pick now, with what I know.......
Pacquiao, Split Decision. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the exact opposite.
Juan Diaz: In my personal opinion, I don't see this as a good fight for Manny Pacquiao, because of a lot of things. I don't think that Manny would get stopped by Juan, but I don't think he'd do to well in this. Juan Diaz has a wide array of punches, throws in bunches has tremendous speed and has more pop than one might think. Especially when you take into account that against Juan, most people take more and more punches as the fight goes on. He's also the bigger guy, naturally and has a great beard himself. I have yet to see him rocked against, Freitas, Cotto, or even Julio, and Manny, at 130, cannot say the same thing. (Barrera knocked him down and Morales came close once or twice.)
Who Wins & How: I'm going for Diaz, he has most of the advantages, and anything he lacks, he makes up for in heart, stamina and hunger. (Not to say Manny doesn't have the same attributes, but I think they stand out more in a fighter who has less money. Just my opinion, so.......
Juan Diaz, comfortable Unanimous Decision.
Edwin Valero: To me, this is a pretty easy fight for Manny. In all honesty, Edwin is a much better boxer tha he is truly given credit for, but he's still not really on Manny's level. He's never been tested, never had a TRULY tough, durable, name opponent. And yet, he's still be wobbled and even put down. He has a reputation, a decent name, a underground following and a very impressive KO streak. Other thn that, the speed and power, in my opinion go to Pacquiao, and it would be the type of test/fight that makes Manny step up his offense, and possibly do something like he did to Erik Morales, in the third fight.
Who Wins & How: I se this is a fun, exciting, quick fight.......
Manny Pacquiao, with a 4th round stoppage.
These last two (three, technically) are strange fights for me, so I wont pick winners, just give more options.
Juan Manual Marquez: This, is a VERY tough fight to call. Marquez looked great against Manny, for eleven rounds. It's that 12th round that makes me wonder (or first, considering the facts). Some say that Juan has faded, some say that Manny is beginning to. In all honestly, I can't even pick in this fight, so many variables, I just hope it happens.
Winner Of Soto/Guzman: Either fighter makes for a good fight. I don't know who wins, so until then, it's not important, I just hope he eventually fights one or the other. Perhaps even both, depending on how their fight ends up. I say he loses to either one, if you want my honest opinion. However, I woulnd't be surprised if I was wrong. Soto has a better overall fundamental understanding than Manny, and he has a nice, strong jab. Something that can throw off Manny's rhythm. Guzman is about the same, with a little more pop, and a better chin, in my opinion. Tough fight(s) to call.
Well, vote it up! That's it.
