Sergio Mora: "I Can Beat Kelly Pavlik"

In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Sergio Mora (19-0-1, 4 KOs), who won the first season of The Contender reality show, said that he possesses the tools to beat current WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29KOs). i appreciate his confidence but I don't see him winning. With pavliks unbelievable power and pressure fighting I don't see mora lasting long. He'll most likely pick shots and constantly stay away but pavlik will eventually catch him. He would probably frustrate pavlik more than hurt him.

I was pretty impressed with mora in the contender series but he wasn't really fighting anyone special, pavlik would just throw bombs until one connected.

mora needs to lay low and get some fights under him before even thinking about fighting pavlik....ring rust is a ***** but he couldve stepped up sooner against ayala IMO...

I still support him, his style is basically stay away and then land some good combos to steal the round and it had worked pretty well so far...

if he hadnt waited so much time to get the shortcut to fight Taylor, he wouldve probably earned the shot by now...i mean he was ranked #4 by the WBC a year ago...by now 2 of the contenders are not at 160(Winky and Miranda)and another one is now champion...name-wise in the top rankers, he is basically #2 after taylor...

I agree. He should get a couple more fights in.

Sergio was very hittable in the Ayala fight. I know he said he was dis-interested but NOBODY likes getting hit....except maybe Mayorga.

But if ihe's that hittable against Kelly, well, we know what happens from there.
