The answer to the biggest flaw in The Ring's policy fell into my lap over the weekend. There are no mandatory challengers for The Ring champion... which is okay for the most part, because some of the mandatories for the ABC belts just completely ****ing suck.
However, I think if #1 beats #2 or vice versa in a division with a champion, then they should be the mandatory for The Ring champion. If the fight isn't made or whatever, then The Ring champion should be stripped, and they should reorder the rankings so there is no champion anymore. The belt would still have to be earned the same way it would had there been no champion.
The situation that came to mind was that Juan Diaz beat Julio Diaz, so he should have the contractual right to fight Joel Casamayor for The Ring belt.
