  • What was different with Castijello when fighting Vargas and Sturm?

I was watching Fernando Vargas vs. Javier Castijello again today and was wondering to myself what the difference was in Castijello between his fight with Vargas and then his fight against Felix Sturm. At this point in their careers, I believe that Sturm is the more dangerous opponent as far as their abilities go. However, Javier was able to stop Sturm in their first fight. I didn't get to see the 2nd (if someone could help me out with that, I'd appreciate it).

Anyhow, I was curious of what those of you who saw these fights thought about Castijello. I mean, he was a few years older fighting Sturm, but he looked better than in the Vargas fight, where he was already an older fighter.

That really threw me off as well. Castillejo looked like an old man against Vagas and looked rejuvinated against Sturm, when i first heart Sturm was going to defend against Castillejo it made my stomach turn.
I think Castillejo might have already been beat mentally going into that fight, the WBC had just stripped him of his title because he would not fight Mayorga. After all was said and done i got the impression that Castillejo had no clue what was going on, he didnt know he had to fight Mayorga apperantly.

At the time of him fighting Vargas, having already lost to Delahoya and i think he lost to sombody else i may be wrong. But the division 154 was deep and Castillejo was not better then the 154 and people as i thought he was getting older, turns out he still had somthing left as he beat Sturm.
