I was wondering has anyone read anything about Briggs lately. No one has heard much from since his loss to Ibragimov. I wondering if he still gonna fight or hang it up because of his ashma. Anybody have anything.

Briggs should retire... he couldn't even beat a B class S. Ibragimov, i don't care if he did have asthma, he should've came to fight at around 240lbs. if he can't come down to a healthy weight, he doesn't have any chance of beating any top 10 heavyweight right now.Comment

Recently Briggs sucks but the Foreman fight, Lewis fight, McCline fight he wasn't bad. I guess now he decides his jab isn't something worth using and just throws power punches. He called out Klitschko, Klitschko would beat him UD no problem.Comment

Boxing talk interviewed him just a few days ago:
BT – Briggs it's been a minute since you have been in the house here at **********, what's the latest with you?
SB – Everything is great man, I feel great, I am ready to do this. I have been doing some acting, making movies, and I opened up a new restaurant. I have been fulfilling some of the dreams that I have always wanted to do. I have been enjoying my family, just relaxing and letting my hair down enjoying myself.
BT – When can we expect to see you back in the ring?
SB - Hopefully February 1st, if not January on Don Kings card. Hopefully against Wladimir Klitschko for the IBF heavyweight championship.
BT – Is that fight in the works?
SB – There's rumors out there that he has finally got his heart up enough to take me on, and I feel good bout that. Hopefully he doesn't back out again, and hopefully they wont burn me and set me up with Calvin Brock, and that's if he beats Eddie Chambers.
BT – You took some heat from your critics with your last performance, a lot of people didn't know that you were suffering from Asthma, and a bad case of pneumonia. Can you give us an update on your health condition?
SB – My health has been better, I had some time off to get right. I shouldn't have been in that fight against Ibragimov. I had a lot of pressure from a lot of people to take the fight, the WBO didn't want to give me an extension. I find that funny, Maskaev pulled out of his fight, Vitali pulled out, all these others are pulling out of their fights, and I get threatened that my belt will be stripped if I don't fight? I had people wanting me banned from boxing, I had no choice but to fight. I thought I did enough to win my fight, I am a Shannon Briggs fan, so of course I am going to think that. They claim that this guy was a vicious puncher, and that he was going to knock me out, he was none of that. I had to chase him around the ring, he fought like an *******.
BT – What do you think a healthy Shannon Briggs would have done to Ibragimov?
SB – 6 different medical doctors said that I had pneumonia, and 6 doctors were treating me for asthma. That's the bottom line, lets get to the facts. Six doctors told me not to fight due to my health, I had no choice, it was fight or be stripped of my title. I only trained for 4 days, and I went 12 rounds with this guy. I thought he was a vicious killer? I thought he was a hard puncher? This guy is none of that crap, I shouldn't even have been in that fight, but I had the heart to get in there sick. They threatened to not only strip me of my title, but they were threatening me that I would be banned from boxing.
BT – Did you file a protest with all of these threats that you were receiving?
SB – Warriors promotions won the purse bid. It wasn't in Don Kings favor, but Don did everything that he could for me to keep my title. Warriors wanted that title bad, they wanted to fight Holyfield. This kid is nothing, he is a bum, he didn't even beat Ray Austin. He fought a critically ill Shannon Briggs. I have been dying to come back to the sport, I miss the training, but I don't miss the politics. I went through all of that crap with Shelly Finkel before with the Klitschko fight. Then I knocked Lyakhovich out with one second on the clock, and I took a lot of flack from that. I miss the sport, and I can't wait to win the world title for the 3rd time. What drives me now Brad, is having the naysayers and the doubters feels so sick and want to commit suicide when I win these titles, that's a thrill for me.
BT – Will your people put some pressure on the powers that be to at least get you a mandatory fight if the Wladimir fight falls through?
SB – Yea I heard about Lyakhovich is rated number 2 and he's fighting Ruiz for the mandatory spot? What happened? I thought I knocked this guy out? I want to fight the Russians because they are the guys that everybody is making a big fuss bout. They are like watermelons, they are big but they crack easy.
BT – What about a rematch against Ibragimov?
SB – I would love a rematch against that guy, let him fight me healthy. I trained for 4 days against this guy, just let me train for 8 days, he's nothing.
BT – Did you see Sam Peter vs Jameel McCline?
SB - I know for a fact that Jameel over trained for that fight. He was getting ready for Vitali, and once that got canceled he started to get ready for Peter. No disrespect to his corner, but I thought that they should have had him go to his jab more. I thought that when he hurt Sam he should have went to his jab to set up his big shots. If you look at the last knockdown, it was from his jab, that was key for him. I would have liked to have seem him use his jab to set up his power shots. Peter sucks to me, and they are always talking about he's only 27 years old , all African guys lie about their age! If Jameel got hurt like he hurt Peter, they would have stopped the fight, they wanted Peter to win that fight.
BT – Out of the ring, when can we see you on the big screen again?
SB - I just did a movie with Ben Kingsley, and Method Man. It should be out soon man, and I have been having a good time. I have been traveling the world, and I opened up a new restaurant, all kinds of stuff.
BT - Do you have any closing thoughts for the fans?
SB – Thanks to my fans for supporting me throughout my career. I look forward to seeing everybody at my next fight, and I look forward to being the heavyweight champion of the world again.Comment

It's called fat-asthma.
Put down the ribs. Put down the dumbbells. Do some actual conditioning and training.
Plenty of top athletes have asthma (in fact in a Briggs asthma thread lots were mentioned) and they control their problems. The last fight in which Briggs looked lively that I saw was against Lewis.
Stop making excuses.Comment
