He did fine against Chagaev and won against Valuev, against Chagaev he didn't hug that much. Does he have a new trainer?

even though the style he fights may be boring to many john ruiz is still a considerable threat to anyone he faces.

Perhaps the most hated Heavyweight champ of all time. But this guy is hard to beat and will hold his own against most fighters in this division.
I rate him higher than McCline and Evander who both had recent world title chances

I love John Ruiz. He has absolutely nothing going for him as a physical specimen for a boxer... yes manages to win. He has no hand speed, no size, no strength... just smarts. And sometimes smarts is enough.

What's pathetic, is that he is aiming at title held by Chagaev, who beat him fair and square and pretty convincingly, which is not easy to do with Ruiz. He might also have to fight Valuev in his way to the title shot, who defeated (arguably) him before as well. Why doesn't he try to go for another belt and fight some other people? That would generate at least a hint of interest.

wow Im suprised at how many people actually have good things to say about Ruiz. In his last few fights he was trying to be crowd pleasing wich didint work he needs to jab and grab, its not cool but it works

where the hell did all these ruiz huggers come from? the boxing world finally gets a break from the bum for 11 months and now that hes back ppl are singing his praises, saying he got robbed against valuev, and how he'll get another title.

ruiz is a perfect example of what don king does for you: lots of gifts that you dont deserve.
