Revisionist Biggest Upset of all Time?

A lot of people think that Buster Douglas knocking Mike Tyson out was the biggest upset of all time.

However, I would like to think that Tyson wasn't exactly mentally sharp in that fight, and his career fell off afterwards, mostly due to personal problems.

The fight that I was thinking about today (or 2 of them really) were Mayorga's wins over Forrest.

I mean, how devoid of boxing talent is Ricardo Mayorga, seriously?

And how good is Vernon Forrest? He is an asbolute stud in my opinion.

I cannot believe that Mayorga has given Forrest his only two losses in professional boxing.

Can anyone else think of a lapse in logic in boxing that happened that wasn't justified after the fact?

Nothing beats Tyson-Douglas in my opinion.
YOu have to understand that Douglas was never considered a big puncher and Tyson(at that point) was considered god-like. Talks about his mental focus are secondary, since we don't really know what went on in his head, but his previous performances were superb.

Mayorga over Forrest HAILS in compairson to DOUGLAS-TYSON

        I think Mayorga was what? a 3 or 4 to 1 underdog???

DOUGLAS was a 40 TO 1 UNDERDOG for his fight with TYSON!!!!

HOLYFIELD started out as a 25 TO 1 UNDERDOG for his fight with TYSON!!!!!

Tyson was considered unbeatable. The baddest man on the planet got knocked out by a journeyman. It will never be topped in boxing because there will never be a boxer with that aura of invincibility again. Tyson was like Liston and Foreman combined.

i had given douglas a chance at winning as he had beaten mcall and berbick but no where near confident enough to bet on it. The fight that really got me was Don curry vs Hunnighan.

Everyone is missing what I was going for I think.

I meant, given information that was found out after the fight, what is the most pure upset?

Tyson's head wasn't right, and Douglas had laser focus on beating him because of his mom.

Forrest had a hurt shoulder, but my god, a boxer as skilled as Forrest should be able to dodge swing-armed punches and what not.

I'm basically asking, considering the rest of their careers, who still had the biggest upset.

Douglas obviously wasn't very good, but he was more than on his game that night. Tsyon on the other hand, was proven not to be all that good in the long run.

I'd like to respectfully flip the script. What fight was PERCEIVED to be a big upset at the time, but in retrospect, was not.

                    JUdah vs Baldomir

People acted like baldomir was some sucker just because we never heard of him. But then he destroyed Gatti, and went 12 rounds with each Mayweather and Forrest.

That Baldomir kid is no joke. You can't hurt him.
