  • My pops "Manager of the Year" by WBHOF

My dad (Frank Espinoza) found out today that he was voted "Manager of the Year" from the World Boxing Hall of Fame this Saturday. This is a first for him to be recognized by the WBHOF in anything. Overall, it's been a good year this year for him...(he was also voted in the CBHOF this year)

His fighters overall are having a good year...But I think he may of gotten the award due to making some tough decisions. After Israel Vazquez nose was injured....he immediately took him to one of the best surgeons in Beverly Hills. He went out of his way to find a surgeon and to make sure the nose would not be a factor in the rematch. He also played musical chairs with trainers after leaving Freddie Roach....But eventually found a perfect match with Rudy Perez.

Leading up to the fight he was somewhat criticize by some for "Israel nose not being ready"...."taking the fight too soon"....and "Israel had too many trainers"...but with my dad making some important decision along with Israel determination....they proved the doubters wrong.

Israel Vazquez-Rafael Marquez 2 was also voted "Fight of the Year" by the World Boxing Hall of Fame!

Cong****, it must be pretty sweet knowing someone in the boxing mix.

Let me ask you, why did Perez leave Barrera? Was it because he wanted to focus more on Vasquez?

Thanks! Not sure why Perez left Barrera. I never asked him but I doubt it had anything to do with Vazquez. He could had enough time to do both. I will ask him later tho.
