  • Why is Tyson the only boxer with Prime in his name?

why do people never say prime Leonard or prime Hearns???

my theory is that people feel cheated out of what could have been so the continue to remember him for the few fights he was at his best.

are there any other fighters we could say prime every time we talk about them??

i think we say that cuz when he was in his prime compared to after he got out of jail, there was such a HUGE and DRASTIC change that everyone saw what a waste of talent and skill he was, they wanna remember him when he was the baddest man on the planet, and not after his life was ruined...

            How about this....

When you use initials for certain fighters, everyone knows who they are, right?

            RJJ - Roy Jones Jr.
            MAB - Marco Antonio Barerra
            JT - James Toney
            DLH - De La Hoya
            etc, etc, etc...

So here is my proposal... so that we don't confuse the Prime Mike Tyson, to the "Mike Tyson the waste"... Why not call him PMT?

              Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I've read on this forum lines that contain, "Prime Barrera" and "Prime Morales" too...

I imagine: after a global devastation, some children of surivors may stumble on those lines and begin to think it's a rank or something... Like "King George" or "General Patton"....Or a contraction of "Prime Minister".

It was such a waste. I agree with your entire post. When Tyson was "in his prime" he was pretty much unstoppable. He had some of the most exciting fights that I have seen to this day.

In terms of history of HWs, he is probably one of the top 3 if not the most talented HW's ever

                  Power
                  Speed
                  Chin
                  Determination
                  Footwork
                  Conditioning
                  Jab
                  Body attack
                  Head attack
                  Defense/Head movement
                  Overall Skills
                  Killer Instinct

he had so much...then so much wasted

I also say "prime RJJ" all the time. My fear is that many of the fans who are new to the sport have only seen the recent version of Roy. Not the guy who beat Hopkins while injured, embarrassed Toney, hunted Montell, and pulverized Pazienza.
