BS. He was hitting his chin and taunting Taylor and Taylor hit him with a bunch of huge powershots before Kelly went down. Nothing Taylor did before that point did anything to Pavlik. If Taylor cant put Pavlik away with 20 unanswered powershots then I see very little chance for Taylor to win the rematch. He doesnt have the conditioning to keep Pavlik off of him the whole fight, and I see a much easier night for Pavlik in the rematch. Pavlik ko in 5. End of story.

It would still be a pickem fight.

Taylor would have forced a stoppage if he mixed it up and threw several uppercuts. Some body shots also. Either way.. What can you do? That's what happens when you don't capitalize.

            Rambov pointed out the essentials.

            1. Taylor is overrated.

            2. Taylor was winning that fight at the time of the stoppage.

            3. Taylor would win the rematch because he's still better than Pavilk.

            The hype clouded everyone's judgement.

yes he can win, but there are two questions that taylor needs to answer in order to win, and we will only know the answers by seeing him fight: can he use his physical ability and make the proper adjustments to his game? and, more importantly, how will he recover mentally? i think the second question is the big one.. jermain taylor has great physical abilities, his combination of speed and power are incredible, if he can recover mentally, get focused, fight smart, and make the proper adjustments, yes he will win, but kelly pavlik is very tough and earned his title, jermain is gonna have to be in top form, mentally and physically, to win.. i call another instant classic, and when it's all said and done, i think taylor wins the rematch, making way for a very exciting trilogy

My message, coming from a big time Pavlik fan would be this : Don't count out Taylor so quickly.

I'm not biased and the difference in hand speed was dramatic. That said I still only had Taylor up one point when the KO came. It was a very close fight and if Taylor hasn't been badly hurt by that KO he can make a come back and possibly even beat Pavlik in a rematch.

I'm sure the loss has only sparked the desire for revenge and the desire to become Champion again. If Taylor hasn't been too mentally effect by the KO he has a great chance at redemption.

That said I'll still be betting on Pavlik.

                  1.) Agreed.

2.) Yes he was, but only by one point. 2 at the very highest, and that's being generous because in order fo rhim to be winning by two points you would have to have given him either round 1 or round 3, 2 rounds which Pavlik clearly won.

3.) Better as far as natural talent and overall skills, yes. Not better in terms of sheer power and the desire to be great.

A knockout like that doesn't so much as ruin a fighter physically as it ruins him mentally.

Taylor was never that strong mentally. He had a hard time dealing with criticism, and seemed to always have low levels of confidence.

A knockout loss like that is the worst thing that could possibly happen to him mentally.

Everyone tells him he sucks and is over-rated, then they are proven correct.

The true question Taylor still needs to ask himself is if he's still afraid of ghosts.......
