Anyway Joe should retire after the Kessler fight, that's my opinion at least.
If he beats Kessler he doesn't have much else to prove. If he loses, which I think he will, he can do whatever the hell he wants, won't care at that point.

I totally agree with you internet world7.
Most people are convinced calzaghe will win, which is a load of bull.
Calzaghe has been hiding in the UK for way too long, and he is still fighting against Kessler in his home ground. Why doesn't he ever leave his country and fight in the USA?

For the same reasons most american names hardly ever leave their own shores. Because he is a big draw at home and can make as much money (most likely more) fighting at home as by going to the US.

Noone likes to give up home-advantage when there's no incentive to do so. Potential US opponents haven't exactly been making him huge favourable offers to lure him over.

I hate it when this US double standart comes up. Yes - fights should be made in the US if they make more economic sense there (which throughout Calzaghe's career likely haven't been the case). But they shouldn't just be there to satisfy some traditional viewpoint of rather ignorant americans (not all), that anything outside the US doesn't matter.

So what happens if he loses to Kessler? Will he retire? Because even if he moves up to 175 he will get his ass kicked by Chad Dawson. I wonder what happens to his legacy losing two straight times.

And he fought most of those fighters in their prime with the exception of Eubank but to be honest calzaghe was a young lad when he fought eubank. If the only names you know are hopkins and jones jr, then thats sad.

Im sure most fighters get put down by the odd shot here or there, only two knockdowns in his career is pretty impressive.
