I remember I was very surprized when I saw the result of this fight, because I'd seen Donaire fight before in Reno on the undercard of Peter-Sykes, and his performance was a bit lackluster, against a can in then 5-4-2 Larry Olvera (now 6-11-2). Donaire handily won every round, but I thought he shoulda KOd him, and he didnt look like a world beater to me. How ever, a look at Olvera's record reveals he's fought many promising upcomers and has rarely been KOd, and there's the fact that this was an experience building fight, and a good night of work for Donaire, so I clearly read into the opponent too much.

Donaire's definatly proven me wrong though.. that left hook was picturesqe. That emphatically justified his nickname, as that punch was landed in a flash. Vic charged in with his hands down, and Donaire timed it PERFECTLY with an even more perfect left hook. Vic's attempts to get up were priceless, not that I like seeing a fighter in that kinda shape, but that just shows how great the punch was. I'm willing to admit I was wrong about this guy, and I'm very happy for him, actually.

I've replayed the point of impact about a dozen times and still can't see the "perfect" left hook you mentioned. In fact, I keep seeing the fellow in the black trunks throw a left hook just before landing on his ass...

Brutal. I wish that was Addison getting knocked out like that. Ugh.

I always thought that with Darchinyan's ****** monkey-like fighting style it was only a matter of time before he hit the deck for good. He was way too ****y anyway. It's one thing to be Mayweather ****y when you have Mayweather's record, it's another thing to be Darchinyan ****y with Darchinyan's record.

That KO cant be forgotten from consideration for KO of the year, especially because it was one shot. Vic wasn't even stunned at the time, as is the usual case with such insane KOs.

I'll tell you one thing, I'd hate to be one of the poor bastards in charge of picking "Fight of the Year" and "Best Knockout" out of 2007's lineup of fights. This year has been absolutely insane in terms of amazing fights and amazing knockouts.

Definitely one of mine too. Hard to pick though, with Cotto/Judah, Marquez/Vazquez II, Pavlik/Taylor, Darchinyan/Donaire all running in the top contention in my book.
