I will tell you another thing... look at the tape of Gerald in the ring after the first Julian Jackson fight..he tells HBO that he feels good despite the massive headache he is enduing at that moment... the next fight he had that went some distance was... the Benn fight... Just food for thought

I didn't know that. But also those rabbit punches Benn was hitting him with from the first round on didn't help either.

thats amazing that this just came up now..i always new soemhting ws wrong and benn didnt cuase that.. it would have happened eventually .. but why? what was wrong with his head

I believe it was Gerald's piss poor conditioning for that fight and his will to win which is what messed him up.

He was winded and gassed out from way early in the fight. Benn never really did that much damage to the G-man. Instead his conditioning was so poor he couldnt get enough oxygen no matter how much he tried like sticking the mouthpiece out, add to that Nigel not giving him a moment to breathe and his brain was seriously lacking oxygen.

It probably would have been much better for McClellan if Benn would have indeed landed something vicious early on and knocked him out cold instead of prolonging his state of oxygen deficiency in the brain.
