Boxing is sad in the UK

I am not talking about the world class fighters from that area (namely Hatton and Calzaghe) but the boxing cards suck ****.

It seems every time I watch a boxing card in the UK I cringe. It's always the same embarrassing Frank Warren night of set ups and mismatches. I fcking hate that ****.

Most cards consist of the following:
Amir Khan 's stock rises. 13 cans in a row who had zero power and no ambition. Khans huge ego grows bigger and bigger and he keeps trashing his UK rivals despite the fact his team are scared to put him in with a guy with even a modicum of punch power. Amir is a car crash waiting to happen, all the hype, spin, and PR in thhe world wont save him.

Enzo Macca makes a typically disgraceful WBO defence smashing up clubfighters who usually havent even fought a ranked contender.

And Joe Calzaghe.... a pathetic mismatch against a reality TV star. Most nights he fights B level guys while Barry McGuigan at ringside for all of the above talking about how great it all is.

Thank god for Ricky Hatton and his venture over to America.
Its enough to make me vomit my lunch and cry real tears.

a few points. you started by saying you weren't talking about the world class fighters (hatton and calzaghe) and then you went on to talk about....calzaghe.

secondly, warren isn't the only promoter over here. most uk cards do not consist of khan, macca and calzaghe. theres usually a good domestic card televised every friday - it might not be world class action but its good enough to keep most real boxing fans satisfied. warren usually only puts on 1 show a month, sometimes less.

from your post i'm assuming you don't get to watch much uk boxing, so you either aren't in the uk or you get your entire knowledge of british boxing from itv.

Don't trust the ITV Sport shows to show you anything decent.

But Friday Fight Nights on Sky Sports nearly every weekend will throw you some decent fights. Over the past few weeks there has been some great fights from British fighter - although not all HUGE champions. But belts were at stake and the outcome wasn't certain.

British boxing has alot to offer.

British boxing is NOT just Amir Khan and Wank Warren. - (even when it is... it can be entertaining - *Limond*).

However i also, am sick of seeing Enzo and Khan beating people up. I wanna see some competition.

Friday's fight night on sky sports normally puts on a better show than Frank Warrens ITV fight night. Get to see more interesting boxers like Witter and Haye.

Warrens form of boxing is but you can find good fights. Unfortunatly Warren has the greatest number of broadcasting contracts so some of the "real" fights aren't seen.

I was referring to the main ITV cards with Joe Calzaghe and the big name fighters on it and such. I find most of them terrible. 90% of them are terrible.

I don't live in the UK so I am not terribly familiar with alot of the cards. Im sure they rank about as good as ESPN which is utter ****e still... but I could be wrong.
