  • The curse of Frank Warren for UK boxers.

there are perhaps 3 big uk promoters and that's why many of our boxers are with him. he can get you world title shots if you have talent, but with every fighter he has, i.e calzaghe, a lil bit for naz and previously hatton. their resume is not good as it could be. finally hatton isn't with him and is chasing the big names! i know frank gives people opportunities, but he also takes it away by sheltering his fighters to cash in!

i hope that he doesn't shield amir khan who is a big prospect. i just wonder if calzaghe was with someone else perhaps he would have had bigger fights. its a shame that hes getting old now.

A promoter job is to get the big fight or title fight quick. one of the best promoter is Don King he got Spinks a title shot and the guy who fought Mosely gave him a belt.

he even had Tyson to be contender when first came out of prison.

but it like selling you soul to him that is the same with other promoters.

another bad thing for british boxing is the record of American boxer in England which some fear to go to fighter there. Three fight imprinted in English boxing is Hagler-Minter, Gman-Nigel Benn and Tszyu-Hatton which many felt was fair or security reason

It seems as if Warren wants to make the UK the centre of boxing...by overprotecting his fighters....Am I wrong?

i think he is half a business man, and he does want to protect his fighters. i don't know if it's because he fears that if a fighter does lose, like prince naz did, then they will retire or whatever, but there's somehting wrong that he won't send them into big fights. he does do a lot for some british fighters on the british scene though, but he needs to change how he controls the fights with his true world talented fighters. i mean hatton wouldnt have left if warren got him bigger names after tzyu. hatton even said that he didnt even know who colllazo was really.

by keeping his boxers home, they will get criticise for not leaving. half of the americans won't go to here, and most of the boxers in europe all stay at home too. the real true champs should travel the world and be world champs. sometimes they cant because of people like warren.

Amir Khan isn`t a big prospect. he's only a big prospect to people who are impressed by olympic medals and flashing lights.

He's a prospect, thats all, he has some instrinsic flaws in his style that will be exposed before he gets a world title. I've not heard of a guy nearly getting knocked out by someone with 3 KO's in 20 fights (or whatever Limonds record was) and going on to be a real world champion.

Warren doesn`t shelter his fighters any more than anyone else does. It takes two sides to make a fight.

Agreed, he is a prospect at this stage.

We should be able to gauge his real potential in December when he goes against Graham Earl. For me this is a truly risky fight which is perhaps too soon.
