That unlawful shot came just seconds after a lawful one that Pacqiauo hit Barrera with, which sent the latter reeling to his left a bit.
As for "Protect yourself at all times", this is an advice, not a regulation. Were it a regulation, we should have heard of fighters deducted points for failure to protect themselves. It never happened because it cannot happen.
On the other hand, hitting on the break is clearly a violation of the rules, and, thus, punishable.Last edited by grayfist; 10-07-2007, 03:59 AM.Comment

and this rule could justify mab's dirtiness? pac could have done the same when he got off-balanced in the 12th round, but he didn't. it just goes to show that he was not as dirty as mab!!These Rules Are Said To Both Fighters In The Middle Of The Ring Right Before The First Bell "protect Yourself At All Times" Manny Didn't Do That Not Barreras Fault He Seen Him With His Hands Down And Threw A Punch Its Not Like He Did It After The Were Broken Up Or Threw Over The Refs Shoulder While Pacman Wasnt Looking. The Ref Hadnt Even Got To The Fighters When Barrera Threw That Punch Thats Pacmans Fault For Putting His Hands Down And Assuming The Refs Was Breaking It Up.....once Again....protect Yourself At All Times....Comment

wow, Barrera got a point deducted for that? Im actually kind of surprised, that seems like a warning level thing to me, fighters try to time punches when they pull out of clinches a lot. the ref was breaking them, but it seemed like a spur of the moment type thing to me.
was he hitting on the break multiple times throughout the fight?Comment

wow. i guess he really was hurt. i saw himwalkin to the corner then he was lost for a sec. i hadnt seen that part yet.Comment
