.When you announce you're going to retire before the fight then I think its clear.
Can't really blame the guy. Barrera had a game plan which was to survive the match with as much dignity and without the humiliation of a devastating massacre. Pacquiao just obliged him and played Marco's game.
As for Barrera winning the fight and creating a trilogy? Of course it was never gonna happen. That was just some hype from the odds makers to sucker more Barrera fans into parting with their money.
Marco can now go into retirement content with at least a last big payday. But this should not diminish the glory, the accomplishments and the proud name that he has made for himself.
The changing of the guards happened in 2003. Morales delayed the ceremonies somewhat with his win in the first of his trilogy against Pacquiao and JMM lent some curious notes. But the chord had been struck and the march inexorable.
What just happened was merely half of total confirmation which can only occur if Pacquiao beats JMM decisively in a return match. Hope they meet soon.
For some reason you guys always want to make the argument of national pride and bull**** like that. Sounds so ****ing ridiculous.
Jim Lampley, Harold Lederman, and Larry Merchant need to get off Pacquiao's ****! Seriously go back and listen to the commentary. They wouldn't even make a peep whenever Marco did manage to land combinations that rattled Manny a few times. And yet at the first sign of Manny throwing any kind of little spurts they would say **** like "Marco is only thinking about surviving right here", ****ing joke man. I wish those mother****ers would get in the ring with some boxers see what they're made of. I mean I know Pac is the champ and he's gonna make HBO a lot of money, but please if you're a commentator at least try and make it seem like you're impartial. Merchant specially pissed me off in the post fight interviews, I thought he was gonna kiss Manny. If they would narrate the fight accurately they wouldn't be coming out with such lopsided scores. Manny clearly won the fight, but I don't think Marco got credit for really not letting Pac bulldoze him in the first round like many people were predicting. It was a great outing of an aging warrior, but yeah like I said, it was tainted by all those mother****ers narrating a different fight. They never came close to acknowledging that Barrera did a nice job of staying in there with the P4P most explosive puncher in boxing. I'm not saying give Marco the decision, but at least the respect a great warrior deserves in his last fight. **** LAMPLEY, **** MERCHANT, **** LEDERMAN. **** riding ***gots, they should learn how to be professional and not narrate with Bob Arum's **** in their mouth. Pac is clearly the best in the world with nobody that can match him, he simply is; but give Barrera credit for even making Pac fight a different fight and touching him with a couple of nice combinations.
P.S. Larry Merchant was so ****ed up from drinking raw scotch that he even called Marco Manny. Guess he couldn't stop thinking about Pac even after the fight was done.
