Heavyweight Andrew Golota (40-6-1, 33 KOs) got back into the title picture with a sixth round TKO of Kevin McBride (34-6-1, 29 KOs). McBride had Golota seriously hurt in round one, but Golota weathered the storm. In round six, Golota tried the southpaw stance fo the first time, and his first punch (a straight left) rocked McBride. WBA #15 heavyweight Kali "Checkmate" Meehan (33-3, 27 KOs) broke open a competitive fight with a sixth round TKO of WBA #4 DaVarryl "Touch Of Sleep" Williamson (24-5, 20 KOs). Meehan floored Williamson with a crushing right at the end of the sixth and Williamson didn't come out for round seven.

Heavyweight Bermane Stiverne (13-1, 13 KOs) rebounded from a controversial stoppage with a first-round TKO at 2:58 against Ed "Ironman" Gutierrez (15-5-1). Gutierrez was down three times. "I felt good tonight," said Stiverne afterward. "I will never let happen again what happened to me in my last fight with Demtrice King. The referee stopped that bout too soon. When I step in the ring I come to hurt you now. Demetrice King needs to step back into the ring with me so we can finish what we started."

Super middelweight Jameson Bostic (11-3, 7 KOs) won a 59-55, 58-56, 58-56 unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Marcus Upshaw (7-1, 2 KOs).

Golota Stops McBride, Meehan Gets The Upset
On the undercard of Samuel Peter-Jameel McCline at New York's Madison Square Garden, Andrew Golota (40-6-1, 33 KOs) got the biggest win of his career in the last few years with a gutsy stoppage of Kevin McBride (34-6-1, 29 KOs) in the sixth round. After being badly rocked in the very first round, Golota came from behind in the sixth to land a monster left that put McBride in trouble, then followed up with a combination of shots to get the stoppage.
