Frank Warren said at the post match interview he may be challenging for a title in his next fight, so Thaxton could be next.
Khan did get hit tonight a few times but doesn't every boxer in nearly every fight, it annoys me that the commentators on ITV make a really big thing of it every time he gets caught with a single punch.

Khan did very well tonight. But then i thought to myself, yeah maybe it was because Khan knew he couldnt punch. If he could punch... Khan may have been a bit more cautious and wouldnt have looked so spectacular.
Khan looked quite cautious when he got knocked down by Limond. But take nothing away from Khan. Hope he dont rush though. SRR didnt and it didnt do him any harm.

I think its ridiculous that people think amir khan should step up the competition, he only had 24 SENIOR amateur fights and is in his 14th contest now fighting at british level, which is exactly where he should be at this stage. He was very good last night and slowly but surely ironing out the creases. To compare floyd mayweather who was a much more experienced amateur was still fighting journeymen no-hopers. His first decent opponent was tony pepp in his 17th fight, which was after he had turned 21. I think if amir is brought along at his own pace i think world champion will be inevitable.

We will find out about his chin in the next year as he looks like fighting thaxton and earl who both have a good power, but there is plenty of guys at the top level with not the best chin, ie cotto, the late diego corrales etc. His defence looked much better and if he tightens it up further i think the chin wont be as much of a problem as his reflexes and footwork is good also.

              Khans hand speed is brilliant.

He beat Lawton into submission. Lawton just covered up and took a beating giving Khan free reign to load up.

Lawton - you should have gone all out!

In the post fight interview he said he was trying to use his jab and move and tire khan out until after round 6, but he said he underestimated how hard khan hit and how fast he was. He was very complimentary of khan and said he was the best fighter hes ever faced in sparring or fight. I was skeptical about khan fighting thaxton until he had at least 3 more fights before last night, but i think he looks pretty much ready now.

If he is successful in his british title bid as long as there is no disasters i think he should be looking at european title towards the end of next year. Good luck to him he is a good down to earth kid in the ricky hatton mould personality wise

Why wont he fight someone with some POWER??? His opponents have a combined KO% of 13.. That was before this fight.. You can another 4 KO's in 20 wins to that list...

will you be satisfied if khan fights earl (who put down the iron-chinned katsidis) or thaxton (brit champ who has greater than 50% ko ratio) next?

looking at the post-fight interview, it looks like earl is the most likely opponent. i think this fight was pretty much made in the summer after khan beat limond and was the main reason for earl deciding not to fight thaxton. remember that earls team announced the fight back then but then SN denied it (probably just in case khan struggled to beat lawton).

earl will train his arse off to get back into the big time by trying to beat khan in december.

although tbh, even if khan does beat earl in december, i see the haters pulling out the "shot" or "fixed" card!
