I just realized that this fight is 9 days away. Does Lyakhovich even know he's fighting in less than 2 weeks?

This is great news, Sergei is one of my favourite fighters. Sergei and Brewster had one of the best heavyweight tilts in years recently. Sergei was fatigued and sick when he fought Briggs, that is the only reason he lost. Sergei has a great footwork for a big man and a ******* jab. Sergei will win an easy UD.

[QUOTE=BIGPOPPAPUMP;2709483]Two-time WBA heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz (41-7-1, 28 KOs) has signed a contract to fight former WBO title-holder Serguei “White Wolf” Liakhovich (23-2, 14 KOs) on October 13 in Chicago. Ruiz and Liakhovich are rated No. 2 and No. 3 in the WBA, respectively.

Why won't Ruiz just go away already![/

Ruiz hasn't been doing much hugging lately. Especially against Chagaev I heard that fight was entertaining. You've got to hand it to Ruiz, he fights the best out there and has won against some of the most talented heavyweights of the past few years (Rahman, Holyfield, Golota, Oquendo, Johnson). Ruiz has only been knocked out once and that was from a hungry and prime Tua - anyone would have been knocked out cold with those shots that night. People always seem to give him **** for that fight because it was a spectacular knockout, but he learned a lot from it. More recently, a lot of people felt that he should have gotten the nod against both Valuev and Chagaev.

I can see Ruiz using his experience to pull out a UD here. He may even surprise us with a KO. Lyakhovich is too green and doesn't listen to his trainer. He leaves himself wide open from his inexperience, and Ruiz will capitalize on it. Don't be surprised if you see Ruiz vs. Chagaev II early next year.

EVeryone seems to be hating Ruiz.

Ima laugh when he wins, and he can. Don't be deluded by the hugging. The man has a chance.

Ruiz needs to watch out for that right hand to the body, it could be a short night if Ruiz isn't prepared.

If Ruiz is going to down it's gonna be at the body.

One thing about Ruiz: he doesn't run from challenges.

He really wanted to fight Valuev and willingly took the fight overseas and now this, taking on a quality opponent on one week's notice.

Also, just taking the fight against Tua at that time was very courageous, and the way he bounced back so well and ended up being much more successful than Tua is pretty remarkable.

ruiz is a true fighter. he doesn't run from challenges or have to get ordered to fight mandatories. he doesn't quit with 2 rounds left when he's winning.
he actually makes it to the ring on fight night.

all hail john ruiz, the most accomplished heavyweight of the 2000s not named lennox!!
