    Punching power or stlyes

    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...6690&cat=boxer

    OK I am very confused

I am looking around on BoxRec checking out Kelly Pavlik's last few fights.
I notice that he has only gone the distance 2 times.

One of the guys is name Ross Thompson
who has also faced Oba Carr, Fernando Vargas, Jeff Lacy and Kelly Pavlik.

with 26 wins 16 KOs and 10 loss

only 3 guys have knocked him out

ok you see the names like Vargas, Lacy and Pavlik and think well hell, its these 3 guys, but in reality Vargas is the only one of these guys who knocked
him out, another guy named Levan Easley and some other guy named Eric Mitchell.

So I want to know what you guys think about this, is it the style, punching power or something else?

      It's all situational.

Pavlik knocks his opponents out because he just batters them with punches once they can't keep up with him anymore. He has solid power when he fully extends on his punches, but a guy who is in there to survive (like Thompson most likely was) won't exactly put himself in harms way of being at the end of those punches. Thompson is obviously one tough fellow as well.

I was watching the fight or at least parts of it on youtube and Kelly had problems with him. He was winning obviously, but Thompson was doing some Toney work in there with the shoulder and slipping and what not. It's possible that Kelly didn't take him seriously and/or didn't have good enough sparring.

true, but even Jeff Lacy, I mean I dont think Vargas hits that much harder or does anything that much different than Lacy and Pavlik

I really can't explain! I think Thompson's got a difficult style. Maybe it was a bogus tko against Vargas. You know those happen. Calzaghe vs Manfredo or Torres vs Holt or Junior Jones vs Barrera 2 and so on and so forth.

I want to know how the hell does Kelly knock out Bronco McKart.
