Kessler: "Calzaghe Is A Good Technical Boxer, But..."

"Calzaghe is a good technical boxer, but when he comes forward he has a tendency to look down, and this is never good," Kessler suggested. "You need to always keep your eyes on your opponent. I watched him against Kabary Salem, who hit him with a lucky punch and he went down, and it wasn't a great performance. I also boxed on the same bill as Calzaghe on the undercard of Tyson-Nielsen when he fought a nobody [Will McIntyre]. The key to fighting him I've always believed will be to box smart and this is what I will do."

Well, it sounds like Kessler has it all figured out.

I guess Joe is in trouble now!

If he's basing his tactics on one fight during Calzaghe's rather messy divorce when his performances went down the pan then he's being poorly advised.

Don't worry. Lacy did perhaps have to learn everything about Calzaghe in 6 months, but Kessler matured as a boxer with the goal of getting the fight with him.

The only statement he has made about what fights he is using; is naming two he can't use for anything (Lacy and Manfredo).

every performance and fight is different. if calzaghe and kessler fought 3 times the rounds would be different in every round. yes it's good to have knowledge and a tactic against your opponent, but then your opponent also will have the same for you.

I'm picking Kessler in this fight by ud or late stoppage!

You could catch Calzaghe with a right hook or uppercut as he comes in, if you timed it right and threw it fast. Too bad for Kessler he leads with a jab every single time . . . a jab that won't land and wouldn't hurt if it did.

We'll just have to wait and see if Kessler's strategy works out. If anybody can beat calzaghe its mikkel kessler.

Kessler is an intelligent and smooth guy in the ring. His mental toughness and steady fight game is going to win Calzaghe's respect early and throw him off his game. Once he does this, it will only be a matter of time before he puts Calzaghe away.

Kessler KO in 10, he certainly has the power and skills to do it!

I really really can't envisage any reality where Kessler wins by UD. Stoppage, knockouts I can see, but UD? Not a chance in hell.
