I like Berto and think he will be champ one day, but a matchup with Clottey next I don't think would be a good idea. I know he looked impressive the other night against Estrada, but he's still young and needs to step up slowly. I would think after 2 to 3 fights a fight with Clottey would make sense.

Clottey v Berto would be a definite fight of the year candidate. I think Clottey would come out on top though. The guy is seriously underrated.

Clottey would punish and humiliate Andre Berto. Don't get me wrong, Berto is a fantastic prospect, but Clottey is WORLD CLASS. This guy was winning a close fight against Baldomir before he was (rightfully, but unfortunately) DQ'd. He was taking it to Margarito before he hurt his hands and could not keep it up. He BEAT down on Diego Corrales. Beat him horribly. I don't care if someone thinks Corrales was shot (even if he was) there was no reason for him to get dominated so convincingly. I gave Clottey every round. Clottey has a great punch, but his power is more in his physical stature. He is a big welterweight (so is Berto) and he walks around at 170. I would pick Clottey over Cintron, let alone Andre Berto.

Berto is definatly ready for a top 10 and probally even top 5 fighter. The problem is that he's fighting in by far the best division in boxing that we have seen in a long time. If he was fighting anywhere else then he could probally get a title right now or be a inch away from it but the 12th best guy at WW is better then the 3rd best guy in most other divisions. Therefore he is not ready for a top 10 at WW

i agree Clottey is a very dangerous oponent for berto at this stage ,Clottey is easily good enoguh too be a World Champion now ,he beat Chico easily and would have beaten Maragrito if not for his broken hand

Yes he defeated a past his prime Chico who was coming off of two losses in a row and is fighting at 147 for the first time.

As far as for Clottey losing to Margarito due to an injured hand. If clottey was a elite fighter, he would have adjusted and still beaten the a little beyond average Margarito.

Also Clottey is a front runner. He fades late in fight. He showed that against Richard Guitirezz, when his hand wasn't injured.
