He's one to talk. The old man would cruble before Pavlik's tenacity and punching power.

And there's no comparible opponent to Pavlik that Hopkins beat him his prime that you can say he would just walk all over him if the fight had been a few years ago.

Hopkins is old, Pavlik would win. Sheer activity would get him the fight.

In his prime Hopkins walks all over him: Pavlik is very good and smarter than he looks, but those who think otherwise were simply not watching Hopkins in the second half of the 90s, and think that the names on his resume are ****. If Taylor had Pavlik down and could not finish the job, Hopkins would surely stop him. Too sharp, too smart, too calculated in his attack, an excellent finisher.

I am willing to change my mind if Pavlik shows me something more, which he might very well be able to do.

Just be honest to yourself the guy had a lucky run in History without meeting anyone like Hagler or Monzon or Hearns etc....
The one top middleweight he did meet beat him and that was RJJ.
Fortunately for Hopkins RJJ went looking for better opposition up the ladder.
I keep telling people not to believe the Hype but they won't listen.

          Hopkins career defining moments?
Tell me them with a straight face that he is worhty of his accolades.
Thank you Moofo, someone finally speaks the truth about B-Hop.
First ballot hall of famer yes, but take what he says with a grain of salt. Although Germain was beat by Pavlik, I thought he represented himself quite well in defeat. Hopkins logic has always been transparent. The truth doesn't make a noise, and unfortunately for B-Hop Germain showed the world the truth not once but twice. Too bad B- Hop can't understand what the rest of us already know.

Yeah, Hopkins was pretty hard on Taylor there, moreso than Pavlik. I thought it was interesting that he though Pavlik would beat up Winky.

Winky's mosquito shots would bounce off Kelly's beard. Taylor was able to push back Winky when he assaulted his guard. Pavlik will assault his guard with a better chin, more power, and double the punches.....do you think he will get a draw like Taylor? No doubt about it, he would lay Stinky out.

I surely do agree. I'll take it even further. Pavlik lays out Kessler and Calzaghe! (not at the same time, though)

how many great fighters you know who dont have an ego? Not many and most rightly so. If you or anyone on here could kick ass like Hopkins has you might feel a little self entitled to blow your own horn every so often. Everything he said was right on. Jermain Taylor was at his best when he fought Hopkins at the end of his middle weight career and still couldnt hit the old the man with hardly any flush shots. Hopkins almost had him out of there at the end of the first fight and as he deep down Jermaine always had that shadow of doubt inside him that he never shoulda worn those belts in the first place.

Prime Hopkins leaves Pavlik unconscious and battered. But Pavlik has one hell of a punch , a great jab and a big heart. That gives him a chance against anyone even Hopkins.
