Both Hatton and Cotto have upcoming, highly competitive matches nonetheless. Which fighter chances to lose more (Could any one of them afford a loss at this stage of thier careers?) Why?

Could Hatton or Cotto Afford a Loss
Collapse
-
Both Hatton and Cotto are fighting top fighters. Some one has to lose. The one who can not afford to lose is PBF. He has the P4P King status in a choke hold at the moment but even if Floyd did lose, shiet happens. Not many fighters get out of the game undefeated. As long as you are fighting the best, there is no real shame at the end of the night. A lot has to do with how you lose. I thought Morales did the game an injustice by not wanting to get back up when he could have against PAC. Now they run around holding hands and are seen together even coming out of the toilet together. lol

Both of em can afford to lose. The thing is, it's not if you lose, it's how you lose. If cotto puts on a good fight but losses a decision, then his stock won't go down.
Hatton on the other hand, I have a feeling he will retire Tito Trinidad style if he gets his ass tore out the frame which I'm sure he will.

Cotto getting KO'd would be a severe blow to this career. His nay-sayers and doubters will have been proven right all along and will basically say; "I told you Cotto was a chinless wonder waiting to get exposed".
If Hatton were to lose by UD (which is likely), people won't care as much as they will blame it on Fraud Gayweather's boring running style he showcases lately.
People will never realize that Floyd WILL NEVER truly fight in a boxing match ever again. He is rich and content now. He is now out to bamboozle ever dime he can at the minimalist of risk like Roy Jones did after he became a star. He's made it now, once a boxer "makes it" he gets overly cautious and is never the same again as he was when he was hungry.

Yes, either guy could lose and bounce back. There's no shame in losing to Mosley or PBF, especially if they are even somewhat competitive.
I think Cotto beats Mosley, but PBF will handle Hatton with relatively few rough spots.
Hatton could come back to 140 to fight Malignaggi, that would still be a big one at MSG or in England (he'd probably want a homecoming comeback fight).
Cotto could rematch Mosley (since we all know how willing Shane is to rematch guys) or of course fight one of the many other options at 147.
