Pavlik with Steward?? Why do i hate this idea??

i just cannot help but to be completely turned off by the mere possibility of manny steward luring kelly pavlik away from jack loew. i guess a lot of people will agree with that sentiment but for me it is very strange to not want to see it.

manny steward is and has been my favorite trainer for a long time, his current trainees andy lee and johnathon banks are my two favorite fighters aside from wladamir klitschko and maybe pavlik. i live in metro detroit not even 30 minutes from the new kronk gym where they all train. pavlik coming to train there would mean all 4 of my favorite fighters would be training (often times together) with my favorite trainer and all within driving distance.. now i know wlad doesent train at the kronk all day, but banks and lee do and pavlik being from ohio would most likely be right there sparring with lee day in day out like taylor had done.

but i just dont want to see it, kelly pavlik and loew just seem so pure in what has become a sport awash in greed and corruption... its just so perfect, pavlik personal story lot like juan diaz story as far as character and determination (not necassarily life experiences) and ultimately reward. I dont think pavlik "needs" anything, his style is truly unique and diverse even at such a young age.... all he needs to do it keep it up, the experience he gains with each fight will be what allows him to become great, not some secret punch or catchy anecdote, or a bunch of wild animals to take up camp with.

i dont think it will ever happen, but obviously everyones talkin about it....

who else loves steward... loves pavlik.... but hates this idea??

I hate this idea. For all of the reasons you stated above. There is something fresh about a top fighter not being with a 'great' trainer with a good reputation. Pavlik is one of a kid and I feel working with Steward will do more harm then good. Steward will convert him into something different. I dont like the idea at all. I hope Pavlik basically tells him to **** off.

Steward is in my mind a bad trainer.

He's too full of himself. He's too bookish and fancy. Look what he did to Taylor. Taylor regressed pitifully under him.

Pavlik is fine as it is.

Taylor didnt regress, he fought a bunch of south paws. manny teaches guys to work off the jab, and against a southpaw there is no working off the jab. i think jermain looked good in this fight, he just needs to learn to keep his left hand up. Pavlik is fine where he is, but i wouldnt mind seeing him with manny.

i agree.he needs to worry about making andy lee a threat to pavlik's crown if he and jermaine are done.

Worst Trainer Ever is Buddy McGirt. haha All his fighters loose now he's on the contender. haha. Pavlik is a normal gritty dude, I pray he doesn't go with Manny and start training in the Poconos. Pavlik needs to stay home in youngstown and keep beating MFers down.

pavlik should stay with his trainer. if he goes with stewart, he will probably get confused like Jermain did. just like Jermain should have stayed with pat burns.
