Pavlik wasn`t seriously hurt but he didn`t have any legs when Taylor floored him. If Taylor would have been more patient and picked his punches better, he would have beaten Pavlik. I think a more patient fighter KO's Pavlik early.

Would a better finisher have KO'd Pavlik?

Kelly Pavlik did it in the 7th, but thats cause he knocks all his guys out. Taylor hasnt knocked a guy out in years, he's inexperienced at it

You're not knocking Hopkins or Winky out...period...Ouma, I will say that fight probably should not have lasted with the way Taylor was landing...vs Spinks, Taylor doesn't have Judah speed as a MW (though he is fast as a MW) and Spinks was there to duck, slip, move and box vs a guy who is technically flawed...
My only point is that it isn't easy for a young and technically flawed fighter like Taylor to look spectacular in his previous 5 fights considering the opposition

Yes Jermaine acted as if he was a KO ******. He had the fight in the bag. That's the key difference between the two. Pavlik put together a string of good punches. It was chaotic it was short and concise. A jab and a staright right. Once he wobbled Jermaine he landed two uppercuts and it was good night.
Jermain began to loop shots when he saw the Pavlik was hurt. He basically pushed him down for the koncokdown. Even theough the flurry did the damgae. Jermaine has to imporve his for. He is so flawed when it comes to throwing hooks it's unbelieveable.

Taylor let it all hang out, balls to the wall, take you with me type of assault he unleashed and that was his best chance to knock a guy like Pavlik out. Pavlik let himself get caught by that straight right hand and as you saw the fight progress after the 2nd he settled down and didn't get caught with anything ****** again.
I don't think many other fighters in the middleweight division are capable of that type of blitz that Taylor let loose and still couldn't finish Pavlik off with. Opponents are gonna see this and they are going to get discouraged. They're gonna think "damn, a young athletic guy like Taylor let it all hang out and couldn't finish this mofo off, that is not kool". Taylor came in from the onset and his objective was clearly stated that he was looking for a fight, but his best was not enough to get the job done. Only way Pavlik loses in my opinion any time soon is if he gets out-boxed.

Originally posted by Knicksman20 View PostI think so. Taylor exploded on Pavlik & landed that vicious combo that nearly finished him. Taylor had him in serious trouble & should've mixed his shots up instead of looping the right hand. Like what was said the uppercut in close would've been the perfect punch to split Pavliks gloves or maybe some body work to bring the hands down a bit to set up a some punches upstairs.
