Mundine got knocked out by the feather fisted Sven ****in' Ottke!!

    Pavlik wins by decapitation.

He was hit with a shot right on the temple in his 8th pro fight, give him a break, he began boxing at 26 years of age. Mundine is only starting to hit his peak now, unfortunatly he got the problem with the eye, but he will be back. Alot of people here havent seen Mundine fight, he's underated outside of Australia, which is a good thing, wait untill he comes to the USA and Europe, he will destroy all your fighters with his SUPERIOR HANDSPEED.

mundine either by wide UD or pavlik by KO.

      im taking mundine by UD.

mundine describes his vision in one eye as cloudy.. hardly stevie wonder
Mundine was KD'd near the ropes by an unknown Japanese (or was it Korean?) before turning things around and taking out his opponent somewhere in the middle rounds, as I recall.

In his very next fight, Shiaka again KD'd him in 2nd. Mundine lost by SD.

In both fights, I remember, that the KD punches came behind jabs.

In the Nievas fight, it think it was in the fifth that Nievas found some success when he jabbed. But his jabs were too far between for it to have any real effect. It was also in the fifth that Nievas brought it to Mundine who was visibly surprised and hopped around the ring.

The points I was/am making are:

      1. Mundine started dominating the fight fairly early, dropping Nievas in the third and puttin the Argentinian in the verge of another KD in the 4th and several other rounds. But I saw a few sequences when Nievas got to Mundine behind jabs. And that was what I spoke about in my first post.

2.Mundine's chin is not made of granite (Kessler and the two examples above are evidence.)

      3. Mundine seems to have some trouble when his opponent jabs.

      4. Pavlik has a far more than decent jab.

      5. Pavlik often throws his lethal right behind the jab.

      6. Pavlik's style can give Mundine a lot of trouble.

      7. Siaka may be a big puncher but Pavlik, I think, is the bigger puncher. I don't know that the Japanese is a heavy hitter, but I know that Kessler is not and never was.

really good response grayfist. sorry i didnt credit your first post. just assumed it was another veiled.. mundine got ktfo by ottke thing.

so the nievas fight was obviously a poor showing from mundine. yeah he embarassed the argentine with his speed and lost only the 5th and possibly the 12th.. but he the guy was a cab driver and mundine should have had him out of there.

and he definitely reacted passively/poorly to the onslaught in the fifth..

i disregarded your original post for two reasons...

        1. you said that mundine had 'so much trouble with nievas' which i thought was a bit much when it was practically a shutout.

        2. you said that nievas rained blows on mundine in the 5th.. i guess i took exception to that because nothing of significance landed (id have to rewatch the fight to be positive about this)

as to the pavlik fight i guess i look at the 5th and 6th rounds of the taylor fight and see mundine running with a similar game plan but executing it even better. outjabbing pavlik with superior speed and putting a few shots together.

your points are all valid and strong. i guess our expectations vary. mine possibly through subconscious bias

another positive for pavlik is his ability to break an opponent down on the ropes.. mundine the silly prick loves to lie on the ropes (obviously great reflexes and a decent shoulder roll.. it would be an interesting battle)

also on mundine's chin.. im not sure. i dont think it's glass. yeah he was sparked by feather fists sven ottke.. and hit the canvas against nishizawa and siaca.. but he's also taken real shots from kessler and green.. and also antwun echolls who might not have been much but was regarded as one of the strongest hitters in the division.

anyways i stick my original thoughts. mundine by UD or pavlik by KO

          No big deal, mg...

ACtually, we share the view on the possible outcome. If Mundine manages to solve Pavlik's jab-straight and go the distance, he can come out on top.

I overstated the "raining blows" part and I apologize. My recollection tells me that I must agree that nothing significant got to Mundine.

As for saying so much in trouble, I used "so" in the sense of it as "some" not very. I should have said so clearly and used "some".

Perhaps the hyperbole's came because I expected nothing at all from Nievas then suddenly saw him swinging away at a surprised Mundine.

          Anyhow, hope Mudine recovers.

          Catchya around.
