Do You Still Respect The Word Of Manny Steward?

We all know how much Steward lobbied for this fight.

We all know how much he was talking leading up to this fight.

On top of that there is a very good chance Manny Steward misprepared Jermain Taylor for this fight. We won't know exactly what went on in their camp, but we do know Steward anticipated Taylor easily outclassing Pavlik.

How could he have properly prepared Taylor with that mindset?

    Steward anticipated a cake walk.

Do you still respect the word of Manny Steward?

I know he's rated pretty highly around these parts, and in the sport these days.. That wasn't quite my feeling but what is yours?

Sheesh.. This fight was ALL Manny Steward and look at the outcome?!

It turns out Steward COULD NOT have been more wrong.

He just cashed in Jermain Taylor's championship for him.

    One of the alltime blunders?

    We shall see..

      I have to disagree.

I think Steward had him prepared but once Taylor got the knock down he got out of his fight and punched himself out with wildness instead of using timed blows. Frankly, I was shocked Taylor was so effectively aggressive and I think that had everything to do with Steward.

        I think that's underselling Pavlik's performance.

Taylor was effectively aggressive? You mean for minor spurts.. And NOT quite aggressive enough. Certainly not after the KD in round two.

This was no momentary lapse or general oversight for the Taylor camp.

Pavlik fought strong and prevailed convincingly.

If Jermain Taylor punched himself out in the second round the man's conditioning really isn't what it should be.

Taylor let Pavlik march forward continously after the second. Obviously that's not what Steward would have wanted.. But Manny Steward badly underestimated Pavlik and failed to anticipate the actions of his own fighter.

        Not good.

Taylor had a good mid round and I remember hearing Steward's reactions and instructions. Manny sounded too pleased with the fact that Taylor had managed to narrowly outpoint Pavlik. Meanwhile, a good portion of the millions of observers watching at that moment could foresee Pavlik connecting with the right hand that ultimately setup the finish.

It was only a matter of time. And let's not be trite. This is literal.

Steward wasn't in the right place either at that point. If he was; he would have told Taylor to get in there and finish Pavlik before Pavlik finished him.

I AGREE fanny steward has to accept that the training is a significant part of the fight along with the trainer, lets not forget what he said about pavlik and his trainer....what was it fanny? THEY DONT BELONG AT THIS LEVEL?
where does that leave you ? biiiutch! and ur boy "sad intentions" or is it "NO INTENTIONS" YA COUPLE OF C##K SUCKERS!

It's not Manny Steward's fault Taylor folded when he got tapped.

But no, I won't believe anything Manny Steward says about his fighters; he didn't really think it would be easy, he was playing mind games.

He was naive or either overconfident. Pavlik's power is deceptive because it doesn't have a popping sound to it. Steward should have told Jermaine to box.

Manny's a turkey. Taylor should see if he can get Pavlik's cement-sealer / boxing trainer to take him on. That guy at least gave reasonable advice. During the fight I heard:

Cement-sealer / trainer: "Double-up on the jab *everytime*. ****, **** - pop!... ****, ****, pop! And try to get him a bit in the body.... good work, keep working"

Manny: "Work your jab or something, y'know?..."

Or something? For fugsakes you want your boxer to have to interpret your advice mid-round? Completely useless.
