Just got back from TAYLOR-PAVLIK: and here I have A FEW THINGS TO SAY...

    1. Hats off to Smoger for letting Pavlik continue in the second round, its why i have been BEGGING for him to be used more, and why i went CRAZY when he was chosen for this fight.

UNDOUBTEDLY any other ref would have stopped it, and there would be a million people on here calling Pavlik the great white hype.

    2. Instead, we got the greatest comeback since COrrales-Castillo

    3. POST FIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE Steve Smoger actually said he was 1 big puch away from stopping the fight in the 2nd round, which makes it all the more amazing.

    4. POST FIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE Jermain Taylor showed a rediculous amount of class, giving Pavlik his props and talking about his future in a respectful manner

    5. I was at the Cotto-Judah fight, but that hails in comparison to this crowd. Idk if the fight was just better or what, but i had the best time i have ever had a sporting event, and u ONLY get that feeling at a boxing match.

No joke, i was near tears in round 2, and i was screaming my lungs out just 12 minutes later. No where else do emotions change so quickly.

    6. The fans, 6,000 of the 10,000 in attendance were from ohio, were SO enthusiastic about Pavlik. That after the fight, in the hallways outside the actual arena, there was STILL electricity and chants and cheers going on, and then when you left and got outside onto the boardwalk, it was no different!!!!

I parked about 5 blocks away from the arena, and by the time i got to my car the news of the fight had spread so far that people who werent even there were talkin abou it. Just a great fight town.

    7. If you go to the OFFICIAL PREDICTION thread that i made, i predicted that fight SOOO CORRECTLY!!! I predicted the early knockdown, and i predict the late round stoppage of Taylor

This fight saved boxing. This fight proved that boxing is so much superior to MMA. Boxing has stars. Stars with charisma.

              Good post.

I'm a Pavlik fan and was really afraid for him in round 2, but there was no one time that I thought the ref was about to jump in and end it. Guess I need to go back and watch it again.

Props for calling the fight correctly. What I had apprehensions about was if Taylor fought in the fashion that he did against Uoma. Had he done that, the whole show would not have been a fraction of that greatness that it managed to achieve.

Having seen it live, I'm sure the memory will linger long.

I am just glad I was wrong with my fear.

Pavlik didn't even go all the way down....he looked to me like he was doing an ab-roller commercial and pushing off his gloves. He immediately got up and had the ref stopped the fight I would've chucked my beer at the TV...I seriously don't know what I would've done.
