But because their fighting in the USA and their American, then their the best in the world right? Im telling you now if Kessler or Calzaghe dropped down to middleweight they would have eaten both those fighters. I could think of a lot of other super middleweights that could beat them aswell.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Just because their not fighting in America, the fighters in the super middleweight division **** on both Pavlik and Taylor.

P.S i support all of America's policies and politics. But not how their boxing fans over rate their boxers. Both those fighters would be exposed by the top 5 super middle weights, if they dropped down to middle weight.
Oh, I smell the coffee alright. It's called: Pavlik House.

You guys make me laugh. You would rather pay $100 bucks to go see ****ty American fighters, than watch world class fighters for free on tv. America has a lot of classy fighters, Pavlik and Taylor are not them. Mayweather is the only real class fighter. 2nd is cotto.

The truth of the matter is Calzaghe and Kessler would have absolutely schooled those two today. Yet their is one thread on Calzaghe going, period. We need to talk about Kessler and Calzaghe more. Two quality fighters, who are the best. And Mayweather.

Oh, we have plenty of threads on Mayweather around here! lol

Kessler and Joe Cal is going to be a great fight. Too hard to call though. Frankly, I think that most Americans just haven't had a chance to see those guys fight alot. I can understand you wanting to generate interest in this bout, but running down Pavlik at this time and right after this fight, just sounds like sour g****s. Nobody can take Pavlik's punches lightly, not even your two superheros. I say let the winner of Kessler and Cal come DOWN to meet Pavlik at 160, or languish in European la la land.

          Got it?

Ok...well i dont entirely agree or disagree with any of you, but this is the way i see it.

...Most of the time i would have to say american boxing fans seem a bit blinded ( ie, they dont know what they dont see.) Which i guess to an extent is fair enough.

Im a big fan of Calzaghe & Kessler but the reason people dont talk about those guys the same way is because they dont fight anyone. The only one guy they have on there resume between them are Lacy and he hadnt beaten anyone either.
^^^ This is a prime example. Ok lets do a run down on who taylor has beaten... Hopkins x2 both times close and against a 40 year old man....He drew with Winky Wright, ok lets see what he has done in the last 2 years winky's only descent win was midway through 05 when he beat trinidad, he then looked average in scrapping together a win against sam soliman and couldnt get past taylor. Its hardly beating PRIME in form fighters now is it?

Ok, well im not going to defend calzaghe, all he has managed to do is beat the hype job Lacy who is an absolute joke and then beat some B graders.
But Kessler has beaten Byer, mundine and andrade. Ok so Byer wasnt exactly the best smw champ out there, but he was far from a push over...he would still have UD Lacy. Mundine might have lost some fights he shouldnt have, but he did make soliman look like an arse clown, even when winky struggled against him. And andrade, not unsimilar to pavlik was a hard hitting pretty tight undefeated prospect when kessler schooled him. So to say they dont fight anyone isnt strictly accurate.

I will admitt, i like pavlik and his exciting style, but i dont think he is the be all and end all. Sure with some careful handpicked fighters he might string a few title defences together, but to think he would hang with the kesslers and calzaghe's up in the smw division is just dillusional thinking.

In short... the formline behind taylor was patchy, Pavlik is exciting and fresh, but is no world beater and The top 3 in the smw divison are the pick of the crop between 160-168.

again this is only my 2 cents.

              This thread is some bull****...

As an American (who doesn't like our politics and policies), I like Calzaghe and Kessler and am excited about their fight. And will gladly discuss it around the time of the fight.

That being said, tonight's fight was a great one. And it isn't because it was the most technically sound fight. It's because two high-quality fighters went toe to toe, both hit the canvas, and the underdog got up from the canvas and beat the champ. It isn't the FotY IMO (that was put on by two Mexicans), but it was hugely entertaining.

Also, Kessler is 4 years older than Pavlik and Calzaghe is 11. At 24, Pavlik is still a prospect basically and will learn a lot from this fight and the fights in the near future. And while tonight's fight wasn't Fight of the Year, I have no problem saying Pavlik is the current front runner for Fighter of the Year.

When i watch Calzaghe and Kessler fight, its like watching top notch boxers. When i watch Taylor and Pavlik fight, its like watching two average boxers who everyone has overhyped. Watch the fight again, Taylor and Pavlik are lumberjacks. Sure Pavlik has a big punch but it takes about three minutes to land from when leaving. (slow). Kessler and Calzaghe would both KO kelly early. The same with Taylor. I think its time America stopped waiting for these fighters to come under their light. And maybe you should do what i do and pan the globe for talented fighters and then follow them. I don't wait for fighters to come and fight in my suburb before i follow them. Or country for that matter. I say American boxing stops making it all about them.

Get me right, i love America politically and support a lot of stuff they do. I love that my country is an ally with them.

But the American boxing public is seriously dillusional. I would go one step further to say our number 3 ranked super middleweight Mundine, would school Taylor and Pavlik, not a stoppage like Joe or Kess but a wide UD.

If you like boxing you will watch the best. The best is in the super middleweight division.

That fight should be of higher quality and technically superior, Calzaghe Kessler that is. The time will come where these 4 will meet each other in the ring, and it will be settled there.

Not sure what you mean by "average" in regards to Taylor and Pavlik. Both are certainly much above average. I won't claim Pavlik could beat Calzaghe or Kessler at this point in his career. As for Pavlik being slow, he is, but he is also very straight, which helps to counteract it.

I do watch fights from Europe and Asia myself, but I have to find them on the internet, mostly through *******s. But the average American is going to watch what he is shown on HBO, Showtime and ESPN and can't really be faulted for that. In Europe there are channels that show American fights, in America there really aren't channels that show European fights, unless you've got some great satellite system. I have Dish Network and can get fights from all around America with the multi-sport package, but I never see a fight from anywhere farther away than Mexico. Don't blame the American boxing fan, blame the American television service...
