i knew, in my gut that taylor was gonna come up with something i've never seen in him before and i saw it in the 2nd round and through the whole fight. tonight, he was sharp, he was strong, he was active, he wanted to win for a change. i give taylor respect now, he came to fight. if only he fought like this in his other fights...
great win for pavlik. i cant really explain just how happy i am right now. before i was thinking "do i pavlik to win or do i want taylor to lose?" now i know that i wanted pavlik to win. maybe pavlik's chin isnt as strong as i thought it was or maybe taylor hits harder than i thought he did, i dunno. still needs to work on his defense...
the scores showed just how corrupt HBO is and how much money they had invested in taylor. all judges had the fight scored for taylor at the time of stoppage. thats ridiculous, theres no way you couldve given taylor any more than 2 or at best 3 rounds. that goes to show that if the fight had gone the distance, theres no doubt in my mind that pavlik would've gotten ****ed over. but im glad pavlik didnt leave it in the hands of the judges and im glad he gave a big "**** you" to HBO by knocking out their cash cow product.
rematch clause? is it really necessary? but you cant argue whats already been decided... at the ridiculous catchweight of 166. why not just fight at SMW? if you cant make 160, then you shouldnt be allowed to fight for the 160 title. fighting for the 160 at 166? give me a ****ing break. taylor was sharp in this fight but i dont think the weight was the issue. we'll just wait and see.
props to taylor, he stepped up finally. good job, pavlik. we now have a legitimate MW champion.
