He juiced along with everyone who was associated with Balco thats a fact. The only reason Shane never got as much heat for it is because 1: Boxing isn't as mainstream as baseball, football, and track and field. and 2: Because boxing doesn't have a unified, national commission like the other aforementioned sports that tests fighters as well and as thoroughly as the other sports. Baseball is a joke with it's testing policy imagine Boxing... Everyone who was associated with Balco were there to knowingly get undetectable performance enhancing drugs. Once again I highly recommend to anyone who wants to know more about the subject to read "Game of Shadows". It's the history of Victor Conte and how he came up to set up Balco and details the step by step account of how he made contacts throughout the sport world and supplied them with undetectable drugs. The FBI took them down in 2003. If somebody told me to drink a drug, rub a cream, and/or inject my stomach I'm pretty sure I'd ask what it was. To pay $1,500 for "vitamins" and "flaxeed oil" sounds pretty ******. He knew what he was taking. Everyone's getting off for now though by saying I didn't know. They disgrace themselves. They cheated and are now trying to deny it. I actually respect Giambi somewhat for admitting to what he took and why he took it. People like Mosley and Bonds make Giambi look like a class act with the way they try and portray themselves in order to save their skins...

EPO is a drug that is injected and improvements in an athlete's performance over four weeks using EPO would match those expected over several years for a clean athelete.
Shane must have known what was going on. If you are injecting something into your body then it is your responsibility as a sportsman to know what you are putting into your system. Saying "Oh, I didn't know, they told me..." is just a lame excuse and one that is not fooling anybody, and even discounting that, he must have noticed the changes in his body that these drugs were bringing about.
Considering that Shane says he's a 'health freak type guy' and "very in tune with his body' he must have realised that the effect these "products" were having on his body were not natural. Just read how Kelli White said they affected her body, training and performance.Last edited by The Baker Boy; 09-29-2007, 06:32 AM.Comment

Why are you all surprised, it's professional sport.
A lot of pro athletes are using Vitamin S, it's only difference it they get caught or not.
Especially in Nevada, California etc. is easy to get away with steroids because you know when will you get tested.
It's not random testing, you know the date of test (after the fight) and it's easy to pass the test with help of expert.
And you know what, i believe Shane because he came out and openly talked about it and said what he feels. And admit it, unlike a lot of other guys.Comment

Boxing has enough negatives, both perceived and real. It didn't need this.
Although this has been pretty much known for a while now, it is still sad to read.
Look, everyone makes mistakes. Because of that I would have still held him in high-regard if he at the very least admitted he knew what he was doing and why. He doesn’t need to expose everything, as I understand he is embarrassed. But saying he didn't know what he was taking insults people's intelligence and is a coward’s way out, which goes against everything this great sport stands for.Comment

WHEN DID HE DO THAT??
All I saw was the same "they gave me something and I didn't know what it was" statement that all the other guilty guys used.Comment

Listen,
You have to educate yourself about steroids. Sheesh.. Not all 'steroids' add muscle mass, and the only intention of PED's is not to add muscle mass.
Some of them are to burn fat (does Oscar look leaner and more defined than usual?). Some are stimulants to help you be sharp and quick (track and baseball players use those). Some help with your endurance.
Everytime some guys hear the word "steroids" you think "bigger"? It is not like that. Boxers and amateur wrestlers don't want to add a bunch of muscle mass because they still have to make the weight limit.Comment
